Nate Irving signs with Denver Broncos
Congratulations to Nate. It will be interesting to watch Nate go up against Philip Rivers and the Chargers in the AFC West in the coming years.
The Denver Broncos have signed rookies Nate Irving and Orlando Franklin.
Irving is a linebacker out of North Carolina State. Irving was selected in the third round, 67th overall. Financial details of the contract were not released.
Irving once felt lucky to be alive after a car accident in 2009. Irving suffered a collapsed lung, broken rib, separated shoulder and a compound fracture in his leg, but battled back to have a solid senior season for the Wolfpack. Irving played all 13 games in 2010, compiling 92 tackles and 7 sacks, while totaling 21.5 tackles for loss.

Congratulations to Nate. Hopefully, he can beat out Joe Mays, a fourth-year, mostly special teams guy. It will be tough seeing him go up against Rivers but I guess it just gives me another reason to keep up with the AFC West.
Also, Spencer joined the Titans Jake Vermiglio, the Cardinals, and David Akinniyi, the Vikings.
Spectacular news! Go get ‘em Nate!
A “solid” season? Please. I know that there were people that had more tackles and such, but I consider those stats a great season.
Turn him loose on Tebow!!
ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?!
Carolina wins again??!?
First they got Butch Davis…NOW Bill Withers?!
What we need to do before it’s too late is fire Tom O’Brien, pay him 2.7 MIL, and try to hire Barry White.. I’d say that’s our only chance to go 5-0
I’d prefer we take our chances with TOB. That’s just me.
Looking forward to Nate lighting people up in the NFL.
Sweet… he played for my Wolfpack and now he plays for my Broncos.
Congratulations to Nate “Bring The Pain” Irving. What a great achievement for a young man that fought through a lot of setbacks in 2009 and still ended up kicking ass his senior year for the Wolfpack Nation and is now smelling the roses in Denver! Great job. You deserve it!
Come back and visit often and soon (and bring Phillip with you).
Didn’t Nate get snubbed for a college linebacker award by a Chapel Hill LB whose each and every statistic for the year was inferior to Nate’s production?
I think if Nate’s body lets him, he’ll have no problem working hard and getting a chance at some serious playing time. If he gets playing time in enough games, he’ll get a chance to belly-to-back suplex somebody (hopefully not getting fined too much), and seriously get fans fired up about him and the Bronco defense. Hopefully it doesn’t come down to him competing against Von Miller.
