New Basketball uniforms make debut [1:40pm]
We continue to be so busy on the site that it is hard for our readers to keep up. Please don’t hesitate to not only surf the front page of the blog but also our message boards that now average more than 2,000 unique visitors a day! There is a lot there to keep you happy.
Click here for a link to a GoPack.com’s video of the basketball team’s photo shoot and conversations with the players about the Wolfpack’s new uniforms.
A few quick comments:
- I generally like the uniforms. They are crisp and clean. My one comment would be that they are too white/bland. I generally don’t like football uniforms that don’t have some kind of accent or stripe on the pants; and, I definitely don’t like basketball uniforms without the same.
- The photos of these uniforms at the end of the video appear to show some trim down the sides of the jerseys, but not the pants. Still would have liked to have seen something down the pants. It was very hard to see that trim in the photo shoot.
- The first offseason of Coach Lowe’s tenure could be defined as an unmitigated disaster. The players all returned for his second campaign in awful physical conditioning. It does not appear that same problem has repeated itself. The ‘eyeball’ test of this group of players appears as though they have been hitting the weights and working hard in the offseason.
- Are those two earrings in Javi Gonzalez’s ears? What year is this? 1995? Why don’t we suit up Arsenio Hall and Wesley Snipes as team managers?
1:40pm Updated: Backing the Pack has some screen shots of the jerseys posted here. My issue is more with the blandness of the pants than the sharper looking jerseys.

Strange neck line. Very plain(which is usually what fans like). I am not one that cares about unis either way though. Just win.
Agreed. I am sure they will look a LOT better in the NCAA tournament than out of it…
As long as they look normal (which I think they do) and the players feel that they’re comfortable (which honestly, in my mind is more important) then they’re a /win.
Props to whoever gave the go ahead for the video shoot, very cool looking atmosphere… now just imagine what winning will do to the atmosphere at the RBC
I’m shocked this article give no kudos for slapping some stupid “NC State” label that obviously wasn’t thought through before ordering the uniforms.
much more in line with what Ohio State/Mich State/ UNC jerseys looked like the past few years.
javi says lighter, which is better, and it appeared to fit Scott Wood a little better. He was always tugging on his jersey last yr to keep it on straight.
is it me or does CJ Williams look jacked up? good to see, hopefully he found his 3 pt stroke again as well.
Is there piping on the shorts? The first shot of Javi makes me think there might be. Either way, the uniforms look so much better, much more modern. The necks are different, and not what I was expecting, but so much better than those of the previous unis. You have to wonder if the kids were almost embarrassed to take the court in those. And some have mentioned the length of the pants. That’s the style these days and they didn’t keep Harrow from dribbling the ball effortlessly between his legs.
I could care less about the unis. Just seeing CJL, Brown and Harrow along with the returning regulars makes me ready for some bball!!!!!!
I don’t hate ‘em at all. They’re leagues better than the attempt last year.
But I still like the the ones we’ve worn the past four years better. But if we win, who cares what they look like.
sold white looks like practice uniforms
hmmm I see no Adidas logo…?
Is the guy with the clipboard smoking or did he have beans for lunch?
i was just thinking that Avery…. are these not adidas?
If their not Adidas, I will jump for joy…time to go back to Nike for all sports…

Hmmm. Ya don’t get out much, do ya?
They are adidas.
I like them. Plain is good. Hopefully our play will do our speaking for us.
Why was their debut in a behind-the-scenes video?
They look ok, but to me they’d look better if they simply said “State”, and without names on the back. But Tampa-pack got it right about the jerseys looking better if we’re in the NCAA tourney rather than out of it this season. That’s all that really matters.
I think they are horrific. The red may look ok, but plain white is atrocious. If we beat Carolina, I won’t care…
LLW
Did Howell look more defined?
I like them … I prefer traditional, but these look fine.
Like others have said – just win baby and they’ll look great
The tops look OK but the shorts are just a solid color. No striping, no style, no nothing. Looking at the jerseys on a hanger they look fine but when you see the players moving around in them they are just too plain. And WTF is “ACC” doing at the top of the back of the jersey. Sorry but I like the uniforms less the more I look at them.
So its a more fitted shirt with giant shorts. At least it doesn’t involve a unitard and a wolf howling in the moonlight. I like the simplicity.
Not a big deal, as long as they aren’t horrible – let’s play ball!!!!!!!
As long as opposing teams know that this is the view they’re getting of CJ’s uni…

Ya’ll probably knew this, but these are the same product being worn by the NBA this season. State is one of 12 Adidas schools wearing them:

BTW, I think the unis are a great upgrade- modern look, style and technology, but also simple and classy.
