NC State to host Southern Fried Football
After being boycotted for a couple of years…NC State is BACK!…back on the schedule for WFNZ’s “Southern Fried Football” tour. In fact, I can’t find a post on “Southern Fried Football” since October of 2006.
Tom O’Brien’s annual grudge match against his old employer has made the schedule as Mark Packer and crew will roll into town on October 9th for Boston College’s visit to Raleigh.
Click here for the link to this year’s schedule and you will see that State will also be a part of the tour when the Wolfpack visits Clemson on November 6th.

We’re the only team who is listed twice.
10/9 vs. BC
11/6 @ Clemson
From the schedule:
“First visit to Raleigh since 2008.”
Debbie Yow and Dick Christy made this happen after others were trying to ensure that it would not happen. Kudos to Debbie Yow and Dick Christy taking a proactive approach on this one. They are truly listening to the fan base unlike others. In time I hope these others are weeded out.

Do you have confirmation of this? If true, that’s unbelievable.
Actually, given our track record I suppose it’s QUITE believable.
Most definitely – -send me an e-mail address and I will explain.

Always welcome knowing as much as we can. We won’t ever run anything on the site that you don’t want public.
Why was this “boycotted” from the start??
With the restrictions on tailgating since 2005 and quite frankly a below average product being put on the field in those same years, I can believe both that we have not been the focus for as many primetime football events as we were in the early 2000′s. It always made me wonder though, what would the administration and AD’s office response be if ESPN wanted to host a game day at 9am for a 7:30 pm start time. Would the powers that be accomodate that request for a) early access for setup and early access for supporters during the show b) allow the show with next to no fan access and really advertise their program and university to the nation or c) simply rehash the reasons for the curtailed game day hours and how sorry they are to have to decline such an invitation. Hopefully with a new chancellor and AD there is reason to believe a proactive angle would be taken to address this issue, but in the past I would have been more pessimistic towards the university’s angle. I truly hope this is a good sign of things to come.
ESPN hosting a game day telecast at CF Stadium from 9am to 7:30pm gametime? Who’s going to do the cheering until 2:30pm?
When did they come in 2008?
statefans -e-mail sent.
Evidently they came to the Thursday night FSU-NCSU game on 10/16/08.

I sent Mark Packer a copy of Neil Sedaka’s greatest hits.
Never got the thank you note I expected.
