How will Carolina’s small hotel rooms impact the Tarheels’ quest to advance to the Quarterfinals of the NIT?
Will a few days of well-deserved rest help boost the Wolfpack?
Can Wake Forest pull a big upset and upset the ‘almost Wolfpacker’ crew of John Wall, DeMarcus Cousins and John Calipari?

Go Miss St!
Go Wake!

The possibility of the Holes beating us thrice makes me want to vomit. I’d rather lose today than have to live through that. Hey, we already outlasted the Sun Devils!
I really like watching St. Mary’s play. If Sanham stays out of foul trouble, they will be really dangerous.

“The possibility of the Holes beating us thrice makes me want to vomit. I’d rather lose today than have to live through that.”
Come on! how exciting would it be to play them again? especially if it ended up at Carmichael. I would be there.
I know this is against all kinds of grain, but I think Wake has a legit chance versus Kentucky. That win over Texas might have flipped a switch and they can be a dangerous team. If Wake is playing well, I think they can match up; their backcourt is solid. They have just seemed lathargic and not moving well with the ball, missing shots. We’ll see..
Maryland is dangerous, I expect them to beat MSU handily and contend versus Kansas. Their center has improved tremendously and was beastly last night. This is the best team Maryland has had since Steve Blake was running point. GA Tech is soo talented and ugly. If K were their coach they would have gotten a #1 seed. Then again, Hewitt has done it before so you never know. Clemson and FSU will never be trustworthy in the tournament. My personal jury on Sid is still out, but I like how he approaches tournaments and his teams DO win games in tournaments they play: (preseason, ACC, NIT). At least that nugget leaves me somewhat hopeful for the future and it could be what separates NCSU from the Clemsons and Seminoles.
Duke is different beast. Heck of team and truly a hydra – you have to love what Sheyer and K have done. Great basketball, near perfect execution. For all this talk about them getting knocked out, I personally don’t see anyone in the South capable as long as Duke brings their B- game. Even though some of the games they have been in were close, you always feel like they have control of the game and will end up winning.
The ACC is usually more of a finesse conference (vs the Big East and B10) but GT, Maryland, and Duke all look battle tested, tough and at least 2 ACC teams should be in Sweet 16.
Lastly the Pack: They look good, they have had the pieces all year and they should have won more than 5 games in the ACC. A few more wins and they would have been dancing. We would have had a solid resume. I expect them to win by 6-10 and hopefully get a rematch with the Holes. IMHO our biggest defiencies are not as much talent, but rather confidence and lack of movement both of which lead to scoring droughts that have killed us all season. I’m hopeful that with Harrow we will have a guard that can control tempo and emerge as a leader. I like Javy but he dribbles too much and is not good at creating his own shots. Anyway, at least they’re clicking now.

St. Mary’s is dominating Villanova 33-21 despite the refs. The zebras have already taken 4 points off the board for St. Mary’s on very iffy offensive fouls and given Scottie Reynolds a snowbird layup after allowing a St. Mary’s guard to get mugged at midcourt for the “turnover.” I felt like the refs gave Villanova the Robert Morris game on Thursday. Ridiculous. I wish Jay Wright would share his secret with Sid.

The ending of Miss St/UNX was crazy. UNX squeaks out. Miss St tied it with 2 clutch FTs with about 9 seconds, UNX drives right down the lane for a layup, St tries a desperation with 2… and they miss.
Now it’s the Pack’s turn.

If we beat UAB, we wouldn’t have ACC ref’s against UNC, right?
March 20th, 2010 at 1:49 pm
That I have to say that speaks volumes about the quality of officiating in games involving UNC…
March 20th, 2010 at 2:16 pm
UNC whipped our asses fair and square in both matchups this season. Refs were not a factor.
Of course, the Holes were playing shitty going into both matchups, so maybe the reverse mojo will take hold since they are now playing well.
Anyway, I think I will just watch the NCAAT games today and avoid the stress.
March 20th, 2010 at 2:20 pm
And I hope everyone is watching Nova/St. Mary’s. This is what basketball should look like. Very impressive.
March 20th, 2010 at 2:23 pm
^Hmmm. I seem to remember two non-call goal tends during a pivotal run during our first match up.
We definitely didn’t play our best, and didn’t deserve to win either game. Be that as it may, I still think the refs were a factor. Maybe not the determining factor, but we can still acknowledge that the refs favored the Heels.

BJD95, totally agree with you. Basically said the same thing to a friend (UNC grad) this week.
Losing twice to Carolina is bad enough, three times will be unbearable.
My friend said, “That will have to be so embarrassing for you, losing to us three times in a year when we totally suck.”
Almost enough to make me a UAB fan tonight.
No way we beat Carolina, just not a good matchup for whatever reason.

You can see a pattern in the tourney – Thursday games great, Friday games mediocre. Now Saturday starting even better – this has been the most well-played game of the tourney so far.
Let’s go Gaels!
March 20th, 2010 at 3:09 pm
So is the Pack’s NIT game streamed anywhere? I don’t have ESPNU and all the bars are showing NCAA tourney games…
March 20th, 2010 at 3:20 pm
^try justin.tv
March 20th, 2010 at 3:32 pm
All of the NIT games are on ESPN360.com
March 20th, 2010 at 3:53 pm
Are you guys serious about even sort of pulling for UAB? wtf. Even if UNC does beat us: It’s the NIT.. so let them feel *good* about themselves while Duke makes a real Final Four. We’re playing with house money, its just too bad the game wouldn’t be at Reynolds.

March 20th, 2010 at 5:00 pm
NOt a good start
March 20th, 2010 at 5:11 pm
It’s beyond “NOT a good start”, it’s unwatchable.
March 20th, 2010 at 5:14 pm
Couldn’t agree more, 1.21 Jig! U-G-L-Y! Back to the NCAAT games . . .
March 20th, 2010 at 5:15 pm
Wow, We left our game in Raleighwood.
March 20th, 2010 at 5:15 pm
look on the bright side, we don’t have to go to UNC and get beat by them a 3rd time this year
