Interesting. Would have been cool to see all that talent. I think the old Coliseum is still around?

Domiminique was State all the way until very close to signing day when he flopped to UGA. At the same time, his Mom was spotted driving a new car around Washington, NC. Hmmmmm.

’95-the old coliseum (dedicated in 1955!) is still here-now called Bojangles Arena-had Davidson BB games,North-South BB (State and unx vs two invitees)B & B Circus, HS graduations (including mine),etc-GREAT old building. Interestingly, the newer building, erected for the arrival of the Charlotte Hornets c. 1987 has already been torn down.

Many big names in that game. Wish I could’ve seen it! It is strange that the “Old Coliseum” survives, while the “New” one is gone.

I wonder what that team would have done against a team consisting of Larry Drew II, Dexter Strickland, David and Travis Wear, and Tyler Zeller?

That was the single-greatest high school class of all time. Absolutely amazing depth.

Other great players: Steve Stipanovich (#2 pick in the draft) and Jon Sunvold, both at Mizzou, The McCray brothers at Louisville, Jimmy Braddock (decent PG at UNC)…

Almost all of those guys stayed four years too. The good ol’ days of basketball.

I don’t follow the McD AA stuff very closely, so I ask this question realizing it might make me sound stupid, but do they (or DID they at this time?) hold more than one game in more than one location?

My reason for asking is that I seem to remember seeing the McD AA game this same year. Granted, its been 31 years ago (and I was only 12 at the time) so my memory is certainly suspect. However I’m almost certain we (my dad and I) went to see the game this year in particular. Even though I had obviously not yet become a student (at the age of 12), my Dad was an NCSU alum and therefore I was already a dedicated Wolfpacker. At the time we were living in the ‘burbs between Baltimore and DC, and I’m almost certain we attended the game, specifically to see Lowe and Wittenburg play, but in the Capital Centre (former home to the NBA Bullets (Wizards) and NHL Capitals), located in Landover, MD just outside of DC proper.

We definitely did not travel to Charlotte for the game. So am I becoming prematurely senile, or was there a McD AA game played at the Capital Centre that year?
