Lorenzo Brown posterizes two defenders
NC State basketball commitment Lorenzo Brown re-confirmed his commitment to the Wolfpack last week and followed up the commitment by posting a triple double in a scrimmage against Hargrave. Brown scored 26 points on 11 of 16 shooting while grabbing12 rebounds and distributing 11 assists. You can see about a minute and a half of ‘Brown-centric’ video from the game by clicking here.
One of Brown’s moves was the lead story at this website and can be seen below. You can also click here for our Tag archive of past Lorenzo Brown stories.
Heck…while we are showing videos we might as well share this amazing highlight reel of Ryan Harrow’s:

WOW! Priorty #1 is sign him early. He is just what we need. I like the fact that his dunk was 2-handed and that he went up for regular lay-ups most of the time in the open floor.
All well and good ,lets have a look at his grades!
Wait till next year!
Is it heresy to just say that Harrow looks a LOT like Jeff Teague?
Lo brown is not playing for UNC. No way the ACC refs let him get that many steps without calling the walk.
Hurry up and get these guys to Raleigh. I am ready to start sticking it to everybody in the League. We need to have a “It’s us v. Them” mentality. I alos agree Harrow is very similar to Teague…
Harrow can do things with the ball that Teague couldn’t even conceive of doing
We really, really could have used Brown this year. With that said, he is looking strong. Must have locked himself in the weight room this summer.
His team needs to be booked to play at the RBC. WPK fans want to see him THIS year, and his team needs to have a chance to play here for our fans.
Hargrave used to play at Reynolds all the time, and no one really knew about it. I saw Tony Grundy, Lonnie Baxter, Korleone Young, etc. play Dematha and it was closed to the public. That was a good team…
Anthony Grundy – North Carolina State University
Lonny Baxter – University of Maryland
Lavar Hempill – Old Dominion University
Myron Piggie – University of Nevada Las Vegas
Carl Lentz – North Carolina State University
Cade Lemke – University of Virginia
Korleone Young – Detriot Pistons
Garvin Davis – Xavier University
Kelsey Green – Presbyterian College
Joe Fling – Catawba College
Ed Johnson – Marshall University
Adrian Armstrong – Virginia Intermont College
Holy smokes I liked that Harrow mixtape. Love to see a true baller like that. He almost looked like he was And1 mixtaping that dude with the dribble between his legs.
I cringe every time I write “wait til next year” on these blogs, because I know how it sounds. But I’m excused, because I’ve never been that type of fan, that is optimistic just because “next year is a new year”. I don’t bemoan WTNY. I can’t remember when I’ve ever really said that, unless I said it to a Carolina friend after they beat State, jokingly saying, “We’ll getcha NEXT year!”
For once, we have some big-time talent coming in next year. It’s OK to say it now. There’s some very good talent coming here next year, including the point guard that we’ve been missing for so long. If we get these recruits here in 2010 and fall flat on our faces, I promise I’ll never say WTNY again!
Wait til next year!
Corchiani & Monroe came to State in 1987. We haven’t signed a single guard as good as either Brown or Harrow in the intervening years. That is as sure a road as you can take to not having a successful program. Signing top level guards doesn’t guarantee anything but it makes it darn near impossible if you don’t.
I’m not impressed in the least with the Harrow tape–anyone with some hops can dunk on scrawny 5’10″ high school kids…lets see him do the same against a 6’9″ 260 lb. 4th year college Center or Power forward without breaking a bone and I’ll be impressed…
The ability to dunk is not a precursor of success as an ACC point guard.
^If dunking is not important why do you want to see him dunk over a Center or a Power forward? I think we are all more impressed with the gifts he has to be able to dunk like that, than the actual 2 points.
I have seen them both play.
Brown is a flat out baller. I would have rather had him on this team than Wall. Of course we have neither sigh.
I did not see Harrow play good competition so it is hard to judge. He seems quick and has a nice looking shot.
It should be noted that the Harrow video came from something called the Elite80 camp in Wilson NC the other week and there was some pretty good competition. Harrow and CJ Leslie played on a team against two UNC commits, Reggie Bullock (#149) and PJ Hairston (#150), and dominated them. Now, Bullock and Hairston are SGs and probably didn’t guard him that much but you can see Harrow go around them a couple of times.
Of course you can get this info from WPH, but just in case Classof89 was unfamiliar with that site.
The best highlights we’ll see this season are from our 2010/11 recruits. Part of me is truly saddened by this thought and part of me is cautiously optimistic.
BTW, I could give a crap whether or not Harrow can dunk. I want him 1)not turning the ball over; 2) effectively running the offense; 3) playing hard defense; 4) creating opportunities for his teammates; and 5) demonstrating a respectable threat to score. If he does all those things for us when he gets here I don’t care if I never see him dunk the ball in the ACC.
wasn’t there some kind of bad going ons w/ this name?
Myron Piggie – University of Nevada Las Vegas
“lets see him do the same against a 6′9″ 260 lb. 4th year college Center or Power forward without breaking a bone and I’ll be impressed”
He’d have to run into that pudgy bastard on purpose.
And Harrow’s pretty quick… And probably has two functioning eyes!
Chop- You mean this Myron Piggie??

Hard not to be excited with highlights like that, but……The question I have is: can those guys play defense in a team concept in addition to posterizing people on O.
If we can’t defend with intensity, I doubt we will be successful regardless. But we need to see some clear improvement in that this year for there to be a WTNY.
^I agree. If you have hope for next year we need to see a lot out of this year’s team to keep that flame lit. If our PGs fall flat on their face this year, if we can’t find a backcourt scorer, if we don’t improve greatly defensively, and if Tracy doesn’t look like an All-ACC big man we are still in a lot of trouble. So let’s live in the now…for now. Get them to sign their LOI’s and let’s refocus on the task at hand…THIS year.
Those of you espousing the mantra of WTNY are setting yourselves up to be disappointed I believe.
We have a mediocre athletics program at best and this has been true since about 1989. We will continue to be mediocre as long as the current regime is in power. And I’m not just talking about Fowlup.
DRW – you are missing the point!
Next year never comes!
2009/10: Wait till next year, when we get these hotshots recruits in!!!
2010/11: Wait till next year, when these hotshots get some experience!
2011/12: Wait till next year, till we get a new coach!
2012…the world ends. Okay, not really. We think.
2012/13: Wait till next year, when our new coach gets hotshot recruits!!!
and so forth and so on. Ad infinitum!
