(above: a montage of great Andre Brown moments in college.)
NC State’s Andre Brown helped his draft stock considerably last night in the Senior Bowl in Mobile, Alabama, and now heads towards the NFL Combines with the eyes of NFL talent scouts firmly upon him.
Players who helped themselves:
2) North Carolina State RB Andre Brown – Tough runner who showed the ability to break tackles and get into open space where he showed good speed too. I liked the way he ran the ball all night and he even had a nifty catch on a check down.
NFL Fanhouse also added praise for Brown’s performance last night, saying that
RB Andre Brown, NCSU. Brown made some money on Saturday night. He’s battled injures throughout his college career, but when healthy, it’s hard to bring down the 225-pound back. Brown converted a huge fourth-and-1 in the first half, and also ripped off several long runs to sustain drives. And his 31-yard reception — a screen pass set up by a wonderful Quinn Johnson block — showed his ability to maneuver in space.
That Andre Brown is a tough running back with gamebreaking ability, good hands and excellent ability to do damage once he catches the ball is no surprise for NC State’s fans, and now it appears that NFL scouts and pundits are becoming well aware of his abilities as well. In the right situation — an NFL team with a good blocking unit and the desire to control their football games with a power running attack, Brown may well emerge as a popular star playing on Sundays.
