It would have been a perfect ending if we had won. We will be back on top, just a matter of time.

    That was pretty cool

Huh – who’d’ve thunk it? I think they actually did a puff piece on us.

“NC State has the best night life I’ve ever seen…”

While even I may not agree, I like the thought.

Can someone give us some idea of how practice went today? I don’t have access to the message boards on thewolfpacker.

^the open bball practice? I was there, it was an open practice like they said it would be lol (we watched them warm up for 20-30 minutes).

On the full court drills, Sidney was screaming at them to push the ball up the court. He wasnt giving lip service about wanting to play more up tempo.

Farnold was wearing a brace you normally see on an O-lineman so we’ll see how that affects him once the season starts.

Costner looked more muscular in his arms and was looking good flying through the air on some alley oops.

Johnny Thomas looked jacked, he was huge. Seemed to be moving ok to me.

Julius Mays went unnoticed but he is a true freshman so it doesnt mean anything after one practice.

The crowd got the Der-rick Fav-ors and Jo-hn Wa-al chants going more than once and it was a good showing.

Thanks, RBC. I noticed that Memphis is the only other school that both Favors and Wall have interest in. Has either of them made a visit there and do we think that recruiting both of them is a plus?

I’m not sure if Sidney was being truthful when he said that Degand was ahead of Thomas… Although the brace may have been holding him back. Gonzalez/Costner are different players, Thomas is an athletic monster who doesn’t seem to be held back too much from his knee… It was a great atmosphere for recruits. I wouldn’t be surprised if Gonzalez started this year if only because Degand is still recovering, because he was even better than when he was playing against Duke last year.

    Initial Lineup:
    Start: Gonzalez/Ferguson/Fells/Costner/Mccauley
    Backup: Degand/Mays/Thomas/Horner/Smith

    Change the lineup to:
    Degand/Thomas/Fells/Costner/Mccauley

And you’ve got one helluva quick/athletic team on the court that can run with anyone. Thomas can rebound just as well as a a power forward to boot and could very well end up being a defensive specialist as he’s got the tools and the desire to do it.

Thomas is going to be an immediate adrenaline boost whenever he’s thrown in the lineup, so I can see him getting time at the 2/3 spot. If his knees hold up, he’s going to be something special in a year or 2 if not immediately.

I don’t think CJ Williams is going to get any minutes this year unless Thomas stumbles. Might be in for a redshirt.

I thought Thomas was supposed to be career ending , or degenerative knee. I doubt he’ll get a lot of minutes.

Hopefully we’ll get a much better surprise this year. Then again, a surprise like last year would mean a record like NC A&T’s, and that won’t happen.

Since we are talking basketball, I noticed that a point guard committed to Kansas this weekend:

Since Kansas is high on Wall’s list, that might make us a better option for him…i.e. more playing time.

    I can’t wait for basketball.

^Wow! That was NOT the skinny kid I remember from Greensboro Day! JT has packed on some muscle. Good to hear he has some of the athletic ability left and can contribute

Good to hear some scoop from the practice. We really need to improve dramatically this season.
I really liked the espn road trip piece. Now we just need to win to finish off a nice segment like that.
