A Couple of Non-Revenue Sports Updates
We don’t focus on the non-revenue sports here at SFN, but I thought I would pass a long a couple of highlights that recently came across my email that highlight some successes by our women athletes:
First of all, Golf’s Lauren Doughtie got her first tournament win:
Lauren Doughtie came from behind in grand fashion on Sunday to earn medalist honors at the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championships at Fox Run Golf Course (in Knoxville, Tennessee.)
As a team, the Wolfpack tied rival North Carolina for second place among the 18-team field with a school-record team score of +10 (290-293-291=874) – 10 shots better than the previous 54-hole standard score set during the 2004 ACC Championship. In addition, it was the first time the Pack has ever shot sub-300 scores all three days of a 54-hole tourney.
The NC State rifle team took top honors at SEARC No. 1 on Saturday, Oct. 11 in Charleston, S.C. The Wolfpack scored a team total of 2,304 in the air-rifle only competition, and host The Citadel came in second with a team score of 2,257. Senior Noel Keck scored a 578, the highest score of the day. The Pack is now 6-1 (6-0 SEARC/0-1 GARC) on the season.
