I’ve added a chat-room widget to the site, something that was mentioned in the site improvement post I made a couple of days ago.
You’ll also notice that just under the logo at the top of the page is a link to the chat room.
If you’d do me the kindness of checking it out and making sure it works in your browser (I tested on Firefox 3, IE7 in Windows XP and Safari and Firefox on Mac OSX) I would appreciate it.
I’m guessing that this is an area that folks will enjoy a lot during games.

I clicked the chat link on the top banner and all seems to be fine for me … I’m using IE7
Good work, RAWFS
… this will indeed be nice for gameday / other functions

It seemed to be working well on AOL (which normally nothing works well on). Good addition and continued upgrade to site. You guys do a great job.

I’m using Opera and it works fine. This will be fun. Good job!

Looks great! Works well on OSX running Opera. Thanks for all you do!

I think this is a bad idea. The one thing I like about SFN is that the commentary is structured, unlike the other wolfpack communities. This adds a reason not to leave commentary and to go to the chat, which probably doesn’t leave a log.
I like to come home from the games and log on to see others’ thoughts on the game.
Now we can’t do that.

Seems to work on IE with me, but what’s that other stuff? Looked like a bunch of kids talking nonsense?
October 5th, 2008 at 11:35 am
different, way to mix it up and diversify SFN portfolio.
i want to be annoyed at someone. Noah is more often right then wrong, so he’s on my short list. Red is hilarious until provoked which makes me weigh the risk/reward..hmmmm.
anyways i tried clicking on “anyone annoying you” with no luck. high prob of user error. overall firefox looks good

If you want, we can talk about politics or religion. Would that do it?

“Seems to work on IE with me, but what’s that other stuff? Looked like a bunch of kids talking nonsense?”
Highstick, just switch to the Statefans Nation channel.

So far so good. OSX 10.5.2/ Safari 3.1.1.
“kids talking nonsense?”… you must have stumbled onto a UNX room…

Sorry to announce, but the site SEEMS works for me too. This stuff is all new to me, so I seriously don’t know??? DUH.
Anyway, I’m excited about having another place where I can wax philosophical, forever and ever, until everybody pukes.
BTW, c’mon now SEAT, when have I ever seemed, as you say, “provoked” by anyone on this site? Or for that matter, been even remotely humorous either?
I’m always dead serious.

RAWFS, why does everyone’s screen name showing up in Tarhole Blue on my computer??? That’s sort of revolting for a State chat room. Unless we’ve already been invaded! Yikes!
October 5th, 2008 at 2:48 pm
Tar Heel Chat Room:
Tarcracker: Duh
Dirty Feet: Duh-Huh
Tarcracker: Duh-Huh, Wazzup, Feet?
Dirty Feet: Duh, got any weed?
Tarcracker: Duh, No, Dude
Dirty Feet: Duh, well Ok!

Nothing shows up for me. All I get is the site header and the columns down the left and right side.
Windows XP and IE6

Seemed to work. Apparently [I'm not a 'computer person'] while chatting we’re using another site’s chat infrastructure and one can [mistakenly] enter another chat room besides the statefans ‘room’ if you don’t select correctly while signing in. It’s not a big deal, but is there any way to shortcircuit that potential misstep while signing in?
IE 7.
October 5th, 2008 at 5:25 pm
works fine in Firefox 3.03
October 5th, 2008 at 6:47 pm
Try again, VaWolf.
Reason the names are blue? I don’t know…it’s free code and I don’t have the source.
October 5th, 2008 at 8:38 pm
WTNY or
“Turning the Corner”
October 5th, 2008 at 8:48 pm
It’s the cost factor, everybody knows that anything blue, even letters, are overly abundant and cheaper than dirt.
October 5th, 2008 at 9:02 pm
Statefans, I don’t think we’re exactly in any position to proclaim either of those two choices just yet. It will take time to fill the voids and really improve depthwise. As bad as it was in certain areas, I can see a game like yesterday’s, being a very positive factor in recruiting, especially on the defensive side of the ball.

Does anyone, think, I use, too many, comma’s?
October 5th, 2008 at 9:15 pm
I was having a blast chatting with ‘caligirl’ until she found SHE was in the wrong room. LOL
October 5th, 2008 at 9:15 pm
SEAT, how COULD you leave me off the provoking list?
redfred, I, like, the, commas,.
October 5th, 2008 at 9:23 pm
Call it a double post, a log, or whatever, you’re the one chatting with ‘caligirl’.
October 6th, 2008 at 3:13 pm
Until “Trout1″ shows up you can’t call it an NC State chat room.
