I would love to embed this video from the N&O but the “Old Reliable” (chuckle, chuckle) doesn’t share embed code in their videos. If you watch it, pay special attention to Jarvis Williams’ touchdown catch at about 1 minute and 30 seconds into the clip. WOW! That field-level angle provides a great sense for how awesome that catch – and throw – was.

The second video shows TOB’s state trooper protection…had to be tough day for him, he played football at ECU.
I had a lot (too much) purple in my section, and a few asked me what was up with all the police around the field near the end of the 4th. I simply told them that a lot of us still remember 1987, and it wouldn’t happen again—one way or another—I’m glad it was the OTHER. Way to go Wolfpack!!!

I was also very pleased to see the excitement displayed by Glennon on the sidelines. It shows he truly has Wolfpack blood in his veins already.
I noticed Glennon also. Good to see his spirit is with the Wolfpack. I never thought going into this game that we didn’t have a chance. I always thought that we would pull it out. Let’s hope this is a springboard to more wins as we get more experienced.

I don’t know…Wilson just seems to have “It”. We’ve not had a QB have that since #17. Maybe I’m wrong and I’m just delusional since it’s been eons since we had any decency under center, but I’ve got a feeling about this kid.
Awesome game…I got to rub it in to my 2nd cousin (ECU grad) at a family reunion yesterday…
I called the keys to this game on Thursday- and posted it here. (Check walking wounded thread). Pinkney can’t see the middle of the field and has trouble when squeezed. I’m suprised ECU didn’t run him more early. More importantly- Without team MVP Quinton Cotton, ECU is thin at linebacker and it showed in the second half. Quinton Cotton is(was) ECU’s Nate Irving x10 and a guy who could play on Sundays (out for the season with full tear of all knee ligiments vs.Tulane). Losing their best OL didn’t help their push up front on offense either. GREAT play up the middle by State on both sides of the ball. The absolute key to the game. For ECU: you get the ball twice inside the 5 yard line in the 4th quarter — and all you have to show for it is 3pts? You don’t deserve it. Great, great heart by the Pack. Much deserved win. Now….. football is a journey with 11, 12 maybe 13 destinations (games) along the way. Have to take this and springboard to bowl contention or this means nothing if sitting home in December/Jan. will ECU (& other NC schools) goes bowling. It’s a full season. USF on the clock.

Still feels good a day later… Fantastic win.
I did have a feeling State would win, however I didn’t mention it ahead of time for fear of jinxing it. It seems State likes to give me a present the game closest to my birthday. And, well, it’s Tuesday so this was the game!!
And since most of you know my proclivity towards beating the proverbial dead horse… ECU players were listening very well after that game (although not as well as heralded listener Tyler Hansborough after that G’town game).

Its not just the W that has changed the season outlook, its the way we played, executed, and competed. Certain games on the schedule look much more promising now than they did a month ago. I’m looking forward to it.
Also, they way TOB smiled at the end lets me know that the things that have been going on have been eating away at him. He is a great coach.

On a related State/ECU note… what’s more shocking? The football win, or the fact Volleyball beat ECU as well (at ECU)?

I don’t think we have any potential “dancing with stars” contestants after the teams post-game dancing.
It is still great, and it helps to make up for a heartbreaking loss for my Old Miss Rebels. I can’t even bring myself to read the stories.

Devil’s Advocate here-
Wilson had some pretty amazing throws (almost hyper-accurate), and Williams’ catch was spectacular, however, watching that play again from ESPN’s angle, Wilson did have another wide receiver wide open in the end zone, but instead threw into what looked like double coverage with two other ECU players in the vicinity.
For the most part, though, I was continually pleased with Wilson’s heady plays. Watching effective mobile qbs on the other side of the ball can be really frustrating; now the Pack seems to have found one on our side.
Outstanding win. Kicking myself for not getting tickets now.

Does anyone know what happened to redandwhitefromstate.com? It’s been forever since they posted anything.
From what I hear, RAWFS who posts here has been real busy at work and unable to devote the time in the past month or two.
BloggerEsquire – I was sitting front row SEZ, and that play was right in front of me. I didn’t see the other open receiver, but Williams broke open and it was just a good play by the safety to get over and contest the catch; I think Wilson made the right call putting it up where only his receiver could get it. It was a great catch; Williams had to go up for it, and holding on to it was even more impressive considering where the safety hit him.
As to Nate Irving’s status, I am not sure if they have said anything official. He went into the Murphy Center tunnel about halfway through the third quarter, and I never saw him come back out. He seemed to be favoring his right leg (slight limp); I have heard it was a lower leg injury – maybe an ankle sprain or something?
