Great things happen to our Tigers in Charlotte!

‘I made wolf signs for Hammonds’ FTs!”

— StateFansNation blogger during Clemson’s semifinal win over Duke

PLEASE let us take you back to 1995 and 1996 to the era when Rick Barnes – Carolina fan? – went toe-to-toe with a legend in Charlotte. (Additional link for ‘Barnes brought fire to the conference.’)

Despite the love for our newly adopted Tigers you shouldn’t believe that NC State was not today. In fact, it appears the Charlotte Observer was talking directly to NC State’s coaching staff with the following comments from this blog entry after the game.

If you’re a basketball coach, get a hold of the game film from the first half of the Clemson vs. Duke ACC final at Bobcats Arena.

Show it to your players. They will learn a lot about how to play defense.

Both teams are starting their half-court offenses about five feet beyond the 3-point arc because the ball pressure is so intense. Clemson’s full-court press forced 11 first-half turnovers, and Duke’s half-court pressure caused 10 turnovers.

    Rick,
We’ve got the Bojangles Mecca on Western, eastern-style pig, and all the Sundrop you can handle. Come on home to where basketball isn’t all hat and no cattle.

We’ll take care of that Lee Fowler problem for you.

    Sincerely,

I’m glad this is Tobbacco Rd. and State is known far and wide as having an appreciative, knowledgable fanbase (the opposite of far and wide is represented by the brain activity of a certain AD).

Otherwise this marriage looks vicarious. Oh hell, go Clemp.

Risin’ up, back on the street
Did my time, took my chances
Went the distance, now I’m back on my feet
Just a man and his will to survive

So many times, it happens too fast
You change your passion for glory
Don’t lose your grip on the dreams of the past
You must fight just to keep them alive

It’s the eye of the tiger, it’s the cream of the fight
Risin’ up to the challenge of our rival
And the last known survivor stalks his prey in the night
And he’s watchin’ us all in the eye of the tiger

Face to face, out in the heat
    Hangin’ tough, stayin’ hungry
They stack the odds ’til we take to the street
For we kill with the skill to survive

It’s the eye of the tiger, it’s the cream of the fight
Risin’ up to the challenge of our rival
And the last known survivor stalks his prey in the night
And he’s watchin’ us all in the eye of the tiger

Risin’ up, straight to the top
Have the guts, got the glory
Went the distance, now I’m not gonna stop
Just a man and his will to survive

I say that a coach’s ability to adapt to his players and get the most of out of them at season’s end, means much more than what happened in the earlier OOC schedule or against an earlier and highly ranked opponent in the middle of the conference grind.

The ACC may have been considered pretty weak at the onset of this season but the superior coaching (overall) in this league has overcome that deficit at this point.

So with that in mind, I say that whether they get in or not, Seth Greenberg and the VT Hokies do deserve a shot to be in the NCAA tournament more than alot of other teams that will be selected before them.

How’d we let that man go to Texas????

I mean, my God…what fucking moron let that man go to Texas? I think it just further proves the lack of foresight and desire to WIN that our athletic dept. just doesn’t have.

In all seriousness…I liken our case to UNC’s a few years ago. We got desperate when we were turned down by our #1 choice (Barnes=Roy) and hired what we thought was the safe call (Lowe=Doh). Unfortunately, I see this marriage ending badly and we’re going to have to go back to our only hope (Barnes) and this time it’s up to us to get it the hell done. He is our only hope.

Excuse us for spinning the pathetic state of NC State athletics into something that does not raise our blood pressure to unsafe levels.

It’s a one bid league, and the intensity level has been through the roof … pretty awesome to watch

Just so you guys know, I just made 24 dollar profit off of the Wolfpack.

I never play the lottery. Ever. It was up to almost 300 million dollars, so I bought 4 powerball powerplay tickets, and decided, because god almighty does not like the color red, that all of my numbers would be based on the wolfpack.

    Here are my numbers.

2 seasons that Sidney has been here.
13 for the worst player on the team.
    33 for a close 2nd worst player.
21 years that I have been alive to bang my head on the wall for the wolfpack.
    15 wins

and the powerball for 16… the amount of games that we lost this year.

Sadly, none of my numbers hit…. except for the power ball, which is worth 4$, and with a power play multiplier of 2, 8$.

Since I put that number down 4 times, I made 32$. Not bad for a 8$ “investment”.

    I love my wolfpack.

I guess if we are going to cheer for them than we might as well cheer like them. My wife is Clemson fan so I get to here this cheer a bit too often (especially this year). I will be chanting it today again without a doubt…

1-2-3-4, 1-2-3-4, C-L-E-M-S-O-N, T-I-G-E-RRRRR-S, Fight Tigers, Fight Dammit, Fight, Fight, Fight

^Another case in point of cheering made easy by another school. I believe the cheer comes a jody call during Clemson’s military school days so pretty simple to perform.

The only problem with the cheer is that they did not find a way to work in Go To Hell Carolina in it, but I think I will just add that on to the end.

FYI – In case any one is wondering what I was alluding to by the following statement, “Another case in point of cheering made easy by another school.”

State, er Tigernation, has mentioned on several occasions that we at NC State have overcomplicated one of our cheers so that we always find a way to screw it up. It was a compliment to Clemson for actually using a cheer its fanbase can perform repeatedly.

Over complicated indeed. Watching the ’83 championship special that WRAL aired when V leed the throngs of crazies into the traditional N-C….STATE! cheer made you nostalgic on multiple levels
