For the first time since the thrilling Miami win, I have tickets to tonight’s game. We are 4-0 in games that I attend this year (also attended Prebyterian, NC Central, and Davidson games). I’m not expecting to go 5-0, but we’ll see what happens. In Tallahassee earlier this year, the Pack was good (and the ‘Noles awful) for the last 5 minutes of the first half – and that was enough to earn NC State’s lone road ACC win.
As always, the comments are open.

This is a heart game. We find out a lot about our players and staff in a game like this. Hopefully, we perform better in this test than the last 4.

My thoughts…
Leading by 5 with 3:34 left in the first.
FSU goes on 9-2 run to go into halftime ahead 2, 34-32.
Pack comes out lethargic, we lose 77-63.

I should be able to get it, espnu over here in Buffalo, but um.. I was done a favor by espn360 not having the game over last weekend. Must resist flipping it on tonight…

a heart game? for the heartless
February 27th, 2008 at 4:10 pm
I agree with you choppack1, we are playing for next year from now on. Hopefully the players will learn a lesson and work their asses off this off-season.

Well, obviously, Miami has shown that a team can make a late turnaround from a severe losing streak.
I have no idea what to expect any more. A loss by any amount wouldn’t surprise. If we win, I’d be surprised if it were in double digits.
I hope for a game that State leads the whole way through, increasing the lead throughout. And I’d like to see the players and coaches look like they’re enjoying themselves, too.

I had written off spending any more time watching these guys after the unc-ch debacle but my 9-yr old daughter wants to go so I’m taking one for the team. God do I wish that we could develop a bball program where LTR holders didn’t always dread being forced to attend games late in the year. It’s usually a great relief when another season is over. I put my foot down and said that I wouldn’t go to the duke game if the Pope himself asked for a tagalong. I can’t take watching us get punked like we’ll undoubtedly get punked in that one.
February 27th, 2008 at 4:17 pm
a win wouldn’t change my mind about what’s gone on so far, but i think it would be a helluva psychological boost, especially as you said beowolf, for them having a good time, and THAT might carry over in the rest of this season.

pride game
February 27th, 2008 at 4:20 pm
I’ve picked the last few losses… I haven’t felt positive about a single one of those games.
For some reason, I think the Pack pulls this one out, despite their lack of heart, desire, hustle, or chemistry.
Pack by 7.
February 27th, 2008 at 4:21 pm
why would a win over a poor team like fsu do anything for next year .last years finish led to ecu and no loses.hope springs eternal.
February 27th, 2008 at 4:28 pm
Crap, is it still basketball season? Life on Tobacco Rd. just hasn’t been the same since Wake sold out and that weirdo hillbilly inherited the State plantation.
February 27th, 2008 at 4:38 pm
We can’t play any worse than we did in VA, so anything at all will be an improvement. Only question is which two players will show up tonight?
February 27th, 2008 at 4:42 pm
I’ll be watching it, and drinking my tears away.
February 27th, 2008 at 4:47 pm
Well, this is the big judgement call for the coaching staff and players!!! Whom has the heart to win and whom has the heart to fight no matter the score!! flo state is hot and were dead in the water. traditionaly state always shows heart when it is thought for dead. can’t wait to see chip a n/o report on the pack thurs.
go pack!!
win one for us and yourselfs

im really looking for costner to continue his dominating presence on the defensive end of the court.
i also predict alot of dribble penetration by javi, and not alot of perimeter passing. As always, movement off the ball will be awesome. Does anyone else think that courtney fells rubs off screens as well as Rip Hamilton. Those two really remind me of one another with the way they move without the ball.
o god, who am i kidding. FSU by 7 (just enough to keep me watching until the bitter end where we will inevitably crumble to pieces like dried bread)
February 27th, 2008 at 5:11 pm
BJD95-I sure hope your lucky streak continues. If we can’t win this one, I don’t think we’ll win another one this season.
The players are talking the talk, but can they walk the walk.
“We are not losers”, repeat “we are not losers”. Okay, then win a damn game.
I’ll wait to see a score before I watch anything more this season.
It’s just become far too painful.
February 27th, 2008 at 5:25 pm
I’ll be there to enjoy the festivities
I WILL flick off the fan cam if need be.
February 27th, 2008 at 5:29 pm
ParShooter–something is very, very wrong when a LTR holder wishes a season to end. I would put ‘having to turn off the TV before the second half’ in that category of ‘Houston, we have a problem’ type of signal. Lowe has turned from savior to goat in such a short span of time. We would love to hear about it from Lowe in a candid conversation, but that’s not going to happen (if you were in his position you would be sandbagging in the post-game comments as well). God I hope they can make gains here on in, but I am not willing to bet my mood on it.
February 27th, 2008 at 5:39 pm
I guess I am in that “who cares” state of mind and even though I get the “U” there’s not much upside for me to watch. Losing to FSU isn’t going to me feel much worse than i already do about this season, and beating them isn’t going to make me feel much better. If I watch it and we play the way we have lately I’ll just get pissed, drink more, and sleep like crap tonight.
I think I’ll pass (well maybe I’ll just check the score a few times).
February 27th, 2008 at 5:40 pm
By all accounts we should win this game, like we did the Va. Tech game, with relative ease. I just hope we get off to a good start and don’t let up. Beating these guys before should give us some confidence going into this game and hopefully it helps us shake off whatever funk we are in.
February 27th, 2008 at 5:44 pm
Well, it’s watch the game or american idol. Oh wait, we got the DVD…damn, now I have to watch both.
February 27th, 2008 at 5:51 pm
@Wolftown:
You have a DVD of an old American Idol? Let me know what season, and I can put you out of your misery and let you know who wins.
To be fair, I’m not sure whether Idol reruns or a Pack basketball game is more painful to watch at this point.
February 27th, 2008 at 6:01 pm
Well, this will be the first home game of men’s basketball or football that I have missed this year…
Having 3 tests in 2 days might be worth it if I thought we might play with at least a little pride in that name on the front of the jerseys… but dammit I just don’t see it happening… I will be listening to the radio for this one…
February 27th, 2008 at 6:06 pm
The only way a win will ameliorate my feeling for the season is if we see 100% EFFORT from every player on the court for every second of the game.
There is no excuse for lack of effort and that has been the most glaring omission from this team this season.
Why not start five entirely new players and see if they can give it 100% all of the time rather than 50% some of the time.
