Simple Men Looking for Candidate of Change!

By: vtpackfan  Feb 20, 2008

AD & Department, Alums, Fans

With the biggest sporting event NC State hosts all year upon us (sorry TOB, it’s still the ACC), I’d like to maximize the volume of on-lookers by making an announcement now. Imagine some random guy passing out leaflets to pedestrians in Times Square (UNX @ State in RBC arena) versus the opportunity I had last week (State @ BC in a vaulted ceiling library) and you can see the motivation.

What I propose today is not meant to be serious, but DO NOT mistaken it for just some joke! It is what everything has become when one is an opinionated Wolfpack fan, a paradox.

Let me also add that I consider myself firmly planted in the grassroots movement of the (L)unatic (F)ringe (P)arty, but deep down inside, we all are Wolfpack. So with out further ado I declare this morning of February 20, 2008 the launching point of the LFP for Bobby Knight as NCSU AD.

  1. Hardest job i have is being a State Fan Says:

When is the sky not Carolina blue? When its Knight.Great Idea. Were can I sign up for the LF Party?

  2. WendellPackster Says:

That’s a no brainer. Fowler or Knight. Give me Knight EVERY time and twice on Sundays.

I understand Wendell’s comments as pretty straight forward, and I’ll try not to twist them too much out of context. To the greatest of my understanding on this issue, that being the proposed courting of one Robert Knight to direct our Athletics department, there is ONE central theme. A mandate or platform if you will.

On more then one occassion I have heard David Glenn (good friend to SFN ) say that the question never should be “when should we fire or force to resign so and so” without long determining who we would love to get, who could we probably get, who’s a lock, and who could pull a Sid Lowe in an effort to replace so in so.

Here at the LFP we aim to keep this a simple, fair, contest and it starts with our one true mandate that we have the best man for the job in mind so there is no need to bring up anyone else.

  3. LRM Says:

    VT,
I’d vote for YOU over the incumbent Fowler.

    BEAT UNC

Seriously, first word on title of thread. That’s who I am in a nut-shell.

  4. PackerInRussia Says:

I don’t get it. Don’t we already have a basketball expert for an AD? Seriously though, can you imagine Mr. Patience-Is-The-Highest-Virtue being replaced by Bob Knight? I don’t think winless seasons would go over well Mr. Knight despite a lack of state-of-the-art facilities. The Athletic Dept. would definitely have to invest in some more chairs.

  5. WolftownVA81 Says:

The guy has a winning attitude for sure but in this day and age of political correctness, I can’t him wanting our ADs job or surviving long in it if he had it.

  6. Pack92 Says:

    Knight all day over Foul-up.

Wolftown, you can bet he might not be the most politically correct but he would get people to vote with their wallets. Unfortunately for all of us we have to make a choice currently between NC State and Foul-up. If we pay for tickets, support the teams and the University we vote for Foul-up. It’s a necessary evil we have to endure. I think people would go for Knight more as Chuck-type of emotional thing. All emotion aside the man gets results.

  7. Mike Says:

Count me in. I am sure Redfred will join me as well. In spite of his foul mouth and quick temper, Knight is all about kids doing it the right way. And I guarantee there are no illegal shenanigans going on.

Dead on! Almost 40 year’s of HC’ing and a spotless NCAA violation record and one of the best graduation rates if not the best ever!

  8. LRM Says:

Chuck Norris supports Bob Knight as NC State AD.

  9. FullMoonRising Says:

Are the words, “I have a dream that one day wolfpack players will destroy all ACC opponents in our backyard regularly” just words? Are the hopes and aspirations for a better Athletic Director in Bobby Knight just words?

  10. WendellPackster Says:

Maybe Philip can talk to him :)

  11. LRM Says:

Bill Cowher offered all of his delegates to Bob Knight.

  12. packbackr04 Says:

    what about Bobby Purcell?

  13. Sam92 Says:

I don’t really like Bob Knight. I think he’s a rage-aholic who wouldn’t get along with anybody and would spew abuse at everyone, and his tenure as wolfpack AD would be tumultuous at best.

In other words, he’d be a damn sight better than Lee Fowl-up.

  14. LRM Says:

The Vocal Minority officially endorses the Lunatic Fringe Party!

  15. cap84 Says:

    All infavor say ” i “….motion carries

  16. graywolf Says:

    Excellent idea!

Bobby Knight is first about academics and second about winning.

  17. ChuckAllYall Says:

    NC State 77
    UNC 73

    Mark it down.
    Don’t ask why.
    Go Pack.

  18. Rick Says:

A monkey flinging poo is a better candidate than Fowler.

  19. BJD95 Says:

    Yes. We. Can!

  20. packbackr04 Says:

    ahhh. monkeys.

    mr teenie approves this message

  21. CarnifeX Says:

    …too soon?

  22. packpigskinfan23 Says:

I think all these posters watch too much CNN/Fox News!!!

    I am guilty too.

    I am 100% for and LFP and A(nyone) B(ut) F(owler)!!

I am also a huge Bob Knight fan. The guy is an asshole, but so am I now that I think about it.

  23. #44 17 24 Says:

I think this is a terrible idea. Knight would only antagonize everybody, cause a split in our athletic department between people who buy into “bully” tactics and those that dont. Then abrupty retire, probably when everything is in shambles.

  24. Redblogger Says:

Come on start the Carolina thread, you know we all want it. Misery loves company.

    Go Pack!
