Catching Up With Tremayne Stephens
Charlotte Observer has a really nice article on Tremayne Stephens.
Stephens, an incredibly likable person who loves the Wolfpack, is one of those players that you KNOW got the absolute most out of his ability while at NC State as well as in his two years of playing pro football with the San Diego Chargers. He’s definitely one of our all-time favorites.

Good article. I like to see favorable press about our alumni and team. So many young people let things run there life, rather than the way it should be.
Sounds like a great man. I always liked him as a player, will do so even more now.
Tremayne has always been one of my favorite Wolfpack players and not all for what he did on the field. As a freshman he left more Fl. St. players grasping for air than I had ever seen (at a time when they were dominant on defense)and could always be counted on for electric plays when we needed one. He could not help the teams he played on were coached by MOC and generally found ways to blow it. He had his head screwed on straight then and apparently still does. Way to go Tremayne and best wishes to you.
There, gentlemen, is a true example of a student/athlete and a real role model. Good for him.

I like stories like this. I’ve gotten tired of listening to morning sports talk shows that do nothing but dwell on putting down every team and athletes. It’s easy for them to think they are interesting because they are contrarian. The more talented media folks find these small pearls of interest and show us the good side of sports as well.
Tremayne was one of the few athletes I had class with while I was at State. I got to know him somewhat. I can honestly say from my experience that any good thing that comes his way is no accident. I hope he always gets the best in life has to offer.

I remember his epic run on the first drive of the second half in Charlottesville on Thanksgiving Friday in ’94; we had been trailing at the half and I believe it was a 94-yd run on second down. That win propelled us into the Peach Bowl. I was 15 then and that is still one of my favorite State memories. Tremayne played hard every down, without question.
^LRM, didn’t he tell Ronde Barber about it as well? He juked him in the secondary and ran right by. I think it was the only time I ever saw Tremayne really show much emotion!
Haha, I forgot all about that! I know that was on UVa’s old astroturf (they even still had the old white helmets with UVa on them) and he flat EXPLODED through the line and no one had a chance. He was a true freshman that season, too.
Tremayne “the train” is a great guy. i had the pleasure of running into him at the gym a few months ago. only reason i noticed him was that he was sporting his 94 peach bowl ring. and let me tell you… he could probably suit up tomorrow if you needed him to. the man is ripped up. he was nice enough to sign an autograph and share some NCSU stories.. and it may not be popular here, but he had many complimentary things to say of MOC and staff
I ran into TS about two years ago in the Chili’s restaurant on Glenwood Ave in Raleigh. The nicest guy!! I felt like Chris Farley asking him…do you remember when….. questions from his playing days at State. I went to State from 94-98. Same time period as him. This was the first time I met him and he wanted to ask me questions about State and wanted to meet my family. Very genuine man! Good luck to you Tre”Main” Attraction Stephens! Very classy Guy
