This link will take you to the bowl schedule for the entire country.
The ACC Bowl Menu is set and can be seen by clicking here. Of course, if you read SFN then you would have seen that we accurately projected the entire bowl line up BEFORE Sunday.
A couple of interesting NC State tidbits:
* NC State played NINE GAMES against teams who played in bowls this year and finished the season and EIGHT GAMES against teams who finished with winning records.
* NC State finished the season with the exact number of wins against teams with winning records as the Southern California Trojans - two.
* NC State finished the season with the 12th toughest schedule in the country as ranked by CBS and the 23rd toughest scehdule in the country as ranked by Sagarin. If only we could play in C-USA…
* Clemson’s appearance in the Peach Bowl ties them with NC State for the most appearances in Atlanta,
PRESUMING that the various computers used to manufacture one of the inputs into the BCS rankings would yield a similar result as I suggested in this entry, then it looks like the two teams who actually PERFORMED well enough to battle for the National Championship were LSU and Virginia Tech (not Ohio State). This entry shows the breakdown of the BCS.

I hate that they dropped the name “Peach Bowl” for “Chick-fil-A Bowl”. Most of the Bowls now just sound really lame. I also think that sense the picking order now has the Gator Bowl third in line, they should find a way to play it after the former Peach Bowl. Money runs and ruins everything.

A good look at the BCS and how strength of schedule does not play a role in the current BCS.
It is interesting that all three of our ACC wins came against Coastal teams (Virginia, Miami and UNC-Chapel Hill).
if SOS is not included in BCS rankings then the system is indeed flawed, very flawed
Please take the BCS / SOS conversation to the BCS entry. Thanks!
sorry sfn…. so what rank is the bowl that BC got invited to? in other words, how far did they fall? to the 3rd or 4th ACC tie-in bowl?
Does the Orange Bowl not have a tie-in with the Big East conf. champ this year? I expected to see Va Tech vs. WVU.
wow…BC is such a lame bowl pick that the Gator took Virginia (also a program known for having fans who don’t travel well) over them? That’s the bowl the BC loonies should be pissed at. No way a bowl located in the south was going to take them over Clemson, no matter what Swofford offered…
That was SO hard to predict the bowl lineup for the ACC!! My dog knew what it would be.
BC fell to the lowest bowl that the ACC rules would allow. Every bowl has the choice of teams that are within one game of the highest available team. So the Champs couldn’t pass over BC for one of the 4-4 teams (like FSU).
Does the Orange Bowl not have a tie-in with the Big East conf. champ this year?
I think that it is a little more complicated than that. The bowls that lose their “natural” representative to the title game gets to pick a replacement. I suspect that the BCS website explains all of the rules that governs the selection of teams.
Though you would expect that VT-WVU match-up would sell out any stadium in the country rather quickly. On the up side, this year may be the first win for an ACC team in a BCS bowl since FSU won the national title.
I hope BC fans aren’t blaming anyone other than themselves…certainly isn’t the ACC’s fault they have such a tiny, localized fan base. If there were a bowl held in the Patriot’s stadium in Foxboro, I’m sure they’d be high on THEIR list… Unfortunately, bowls are held in places people actually want to visit in December and January…
I enjoy the hindsight comparison of this season’s State at ECU game. Somehow we avoided getting throttled.
Technically, the Champs Bowl could have taken Wake Forest at 5-3 in the league over BC at 6-2 in the league, so BC could have fallen further, but they weren’t allowed to dip down to FSU, GT or Mary.
Agreed ‘Coma… that was nice to enjoy that hindsight comparison… my day just got better…
The Conf. USA champ was UCF… whom after an admittedly horrid first half by NCSU was completely dominated by NCSU the second half….
for some reason (which most would call logic) I just can’t seem to see getting “throttled” in Conf. USA
Good to see Obie recruting some O-linemen,.. i expect a return to a bowl next yr and by the year after that, assuming we find a qb, we should be pretty set for the next 7-10 yrs.
Do you think ECU will allow their opponent to come back (Marshall) from 30 points down this time to blow it??
I’m just sayin’….
AND….THROTTLED???? IN C-USA???? PLEASE STOP IT, MY RIBS HURT FROM THE LAUGHTER!!!
I’m expecting the next bowl trip to occur whenever we find someone who can throw the ball from here to there on a straight line.
Was the guy who started the season with that 80 yard TD run the same guy who is about the break Barry Sanders’ record for rushing yardage (a record I never thought would be broken)
Well, he DOES play in C-USA…….couldn’t help myself. Definitely a player we will be seeing on Sundays. All props to him if he does break the record.
there are no defenses in C-USA worth a jit from what i have seen this year.
and barry sanders did it in 11 games. this guy will break it in 14 games. but i read somewhere that he’s had 1000 yards and like seven touchdowns….in the past 4 games. that’s a good season for most. ouch.
Tulane and UCF have two of the top rushers in the nation…but they have both been shut down by BCS defenses (just not ours). I’d hate to see Smith break Sanders record…he couldn’t hold his jockstrap. Although he still needs like 180 yards so he may not.
we just picked up some recruit out of Fl named Gary Grant, and he wasn’t on anyone’s radar…who said we need CTC to recruit FL? 17th commitment guys, i think we only have 25 slots this year avail, is that right?
“give me a Snow Belt Team whose fans would like
to be ANYwhere except their campus in January.”
…..mid level bowl chairman
not much about him, but here’s a link, i guess just look at the interested schools list

Was that Chuck Amato I saw on the Ravens sidelines tonight? How many penalties were there on the last Pats drive? And then 35 yards of penalties *after* NE scored the go ahead touchdown?
I agreee that VT (as much as I dislike the Hokies) deserved better than OhioS
However, there are better/more journalists from OSU
Ismael-Grant is from the same HS as Javi, maybe Sid dropped a bug in TOB’s ear?
Are we going to get a bowl projection thread going? I think the ACC will fare pretty well, even though most would say it was a bad year for the ACC. I like a lot of our match ups.
Is Dwayne Maddox NOT a commit anymore? He’s listed as Visitor on PP. I would sure think any decent linebacker would want to come play for NOW.
” i think we only have 25 slots this year avail, is that right?”
We can take as many as 28, provided three of them come in January. I believe there are a few JUCO prospects (and possibly one of the prep schoolers) who would be eligible to do so.
Dwayne Maddox is a commitment. He just has visited unofficially. He’ll take his official and get the royal treatment and the tour and the nice meal and hang with his future teammates. It’s not unusual.
And Dr. Krop high school has something like 15 future D1 prospects on its football team. Lowe didn’t have to drop a word in anyone’s ear. Grant is one of eight guys on the defense who will be playing in college next year.
Regarding the Ravens, they totally crapped the bed in the last five minutes last night. They couldn’t pick up that first down on their next-to-last drive. They should have had at least six more points (FG at the end of the half when Reed fumbled the interception away after carrying the ball as though it were a dead rat and a FG when Boller threw that awful interception) on the board. They had what felt like an infinite number of opportunties to end the game on defense and repeatedly failed to make plays. Ray Lewis got lost in coverage, they gave up that 42 yard pass out of the backfield when the defender turned his back on the RB, the timeout, the Brady scramble….and then Landry gets burnt as badly as anyone every gets burned on the TD pass.
Rather than just regroup and make the most of the final 44 seconds, they decide to throw tantrum after tantrum and screw themselves. THAT is why you are 4-8. Forty-four seconds AND a TO? That’s a lifetime when all you need is a field goal.
They should have gotten the ball around the 35, but they messed that up with the penalties. They should have had the first three or four plays called in the huddle, so everyone knew what to do…you run that little screen and you get upfield and spike it. Instead, they stood around for TWENTY seconds!!! That’s three plays!
They should be thankful Joe Gibbs is around to at least keep them from being THE most embarrassing team in football.
Couldn’t agree more about the Ravens, how’s it go? Don’t give up, Don’t ever give up. The way the wind was gusting there would likely have been a return attempt. And letting Boller throw when McGahee is in a groove, was a bad plan. The 2nd half INT was when the whole game really changed.
Most Dade county schools sport multiple prospects. It would be nice to keep that South Fla, pipeline flowing.
What do you know about Grant, noah. I’ve found nothing except “speedster”.
I think the Ravens are making a meal outta the Refs thing, too. They seemed to have backed off now that the smoke has cleared. I would be shocked that the officials were that overtly disrespectful since they are exposed to on-field recording by the NFL as well. And they are more expendable than a player, they risk more than fines with that type of interaction.
Am I the only person who truly believes that Hawaii will beat Georgia in the Sugar? IMHO, Brennan can / will absolutely SHRED the UGA secondary (that is if the UH O-L can give him time). I look for UH to win 35-17.
Rabid - You mean that same powerhouse Hawaii team that was lucky to beat a 4-9 UW team? You never know, but UGa should win this game big.
Yeah, Chop. And they will do it running ALL DAY, thus limiting Brennan’s opportunities. Hawaii’s D is quite suspect.
It’s not about “giving up,” it’s about professionalism and having the dignity to play to the end. People pay lots of money to watch NFL games. Networks pay lots of money to put them on the air. Players, literally, give their years off their lives, to play in the league.
You have to have the common decency and professionalism to play to the end and not quit. Even if it’s 48-0, you play each down as hard as you can.
Regarding Grant, I know that he’s got two teammates that are among the top players in Florida. He’s got excellent speed. IMO, getting a “nobody” from Florida is a low risk/high reward thing. Look at Jamelle Eugene. People on other boards were moaning about what a waste it was when he committed.
Why do we need another RB? Is he going to play DB? Why’d we take this guy?
