Well, Sagarin has us as #95. Behind Wofford and any of our future our or previous opponents this year.
In future years we can look back at this day and marvel at how far we’ve come.

I just don’t see how we can be ranked #10 when we’re favored to beat “Bye”! Can anyone explain!
This season has been a tough one already. Losing our most valuable players doesn’t help (be very careful, Darrell). I’m sure the future is bright, though. Keep the faith! Go Pack!

anyone see in the N&O sunday (or was it monday?) where it said the UNX QB was as confused as everyone on the UM side for a roughing the qb penalty on UM and he wasn’t even touched? how can you rough the QB and not touch him? Only in the ACC, and only vs UNX….
On the flip side, I don’t know if anyone’s seen it yet or not, but SI’s Luke Winn has our frontcourt ranked preseason #4 and calls us a dark horse to win the ACC.

All kinds of love from ESPN. First the Bottom 10 and now being hailed as the most disappointing team in the ACC:
“Biggest disappointment: Several to choose from, but it’s hard to do worse than North Carolina State. Tom O’Brien was supposed to upgrade things from the Chuck Amato days, but the Wolfpack is 1-5 and winless against I-A competition.”

It’s one things to have goals, but then to realize those goals is even sweeter. No such thing as bad publicity, right?

Highstick – Wy #10 when we can defeat Bye?
I think there were nine other Byes who were better than the Bye we play. If that’s not correct then it’s got to be an alphabetical enigma.. All things considered Bye also has a much better turnover ration than we do.
We’ll get better. This is the year from hell. Injuries are killing a team that faced a strong uphill battle. But I believe this team has heart and will pull off an upset in the coming weeks. It will be hard for opponents to come in not looking toward their next game rather than the one with us.
Playing time, baby, playing time. Everyone in the country who reads this article knows we’ve got starting positions on both sides of the ball available immediately…
if you check out the pack pride website, there is an interesting article about the various problems so far in the season. some good (bad) stats: did you know nc state opponents score almost 13 points a game off turnovers. wow, they spot 2 touchdowns a game to the other team? since 2004, nc state has finished every year with a negative TO differential (-44 total), and has won the turnover battle in only 4 acc contests. wow. just wow.

we only lost 1 game we should have won, CF. The FSU game was a game of a few big plays that killed us. I still think we can win a couple of games yet, don’t give up on the season.
^ Actually, Louisville is pretty lousy too and FSU isn’t much. ECU-Louisville would be a toss-up, IMO.
WRT ECU, as Section Six points out, it’s hard to compare the State/ECU games vs UCF. ECU was outgained by UCF but won the TO battle 5-0 and the game 52-38. We outgained UCF but lost the TO battle 0-2 and the game 23-25.
Contrary to our justifiable pessimism, there is some hope that, coming off of a bye week, we can actually beat ECU.
A win at ECU will say a lot about TOB’s ability to make something out of THIS team (not future teams). As UT showed with their win over UGa, a bye week can really help. Lets hope the whatever productive things the team and Coaches are doing this week, they stick.

Personally all this talk about the Bye week and the points makes me think some folkd may be Bye-curious about the pack. Takes a wide stance to comment on that tho.
I was thinking: BC is 4th and could end up in the NC game.
Then we could compare TOB to BD for winning a NC after he left!LOL!
Talking about ESPN giving love to our hoops, I just hope Sid doesn’t experience a ‘sophomore slump’, I don’t think I could handle another major sports disappointment!
PS. I have never ever seen the Wolfpack play well coming off a bye.
I don’t think we have to worry about that this year. We will play just as poorly as we do from week to week. Expect 3-4 turnovers. We may be #1 in TO’s this year.

Despite N.C. State’s injury problems, receiver Darrell Blackman will not move back to tailback.Toney Baker suffered a season-ending knee injury in the opener against Central Florida, and Andre Brown broke a foot Saturday against Florida State. N.C. State still has Jamelle Eugene, who rushed for 101 yards at Florida State, in the starting lineup.
Freshman Curtis Underwood will back up Eugene. Blackman, who played tailback in 2004 and 2005, will stay at receiver.
“We need to get Blackman and Eugene both in the game at the same time,” said coach Tom O’Brien. “We’ve been challenged scoring points and I don’t think taking one of them out of the game at this point (as a backup) helps us.”
O’Brien said he will use this week’s open date to decide whether some freshmen who were scheduled to be redshirted might need to play immediately to add depth to a roster decimated by injuries.
Wonder if we’ll see any OL sit and frosh’s move up?
