We’re at a place that’s high profile, and people may say ‘Those fans are tough, they drove (former head coach) Herb (Sendek) out.’ No, no, no, I’ve been where fans don’t care. I’ll take N.C. State any day of the week.
Other than chuckle a little, I’ll leave this particular dead horse alone. The interesting thing to me in the article was Pete’s persepective on getting another head coaching job:
With maturity you have a clearer head. (Florida assistant and former Clemson head coach) Larry Shyatt said it best, he said ‘Our next head coaching job is going to be our buddy who calls who’s an AD at some school and it’s going to happen in 20 minutes.’”
I realize that the quoted paragraph needs a little editing, but I think that you can figure out what Pete means.

He sounds like a cool guy. I love the quote about learning how Sid handles half-court offense, making adustments, etc.

I, too am grateful to have an assistant like this. State is also fortunate to have Towe on the sidelines as well. Let’s all hope they both stay for as long as possible!

sure did ask alot of questions about his next job.. i would have thought he would have asked more about this job.
From an academic point of view, it was interesting to ask about assist -v- head coaching and pros and cons of each.

I met coach at Village Draft House when he was first hired. Really personable and friendly guy. I was impressed.

I met Coach Strickland at the Dail Center after the team returned from the ACC Tournament. He was very excited to see all the fans there, and from our brief conversation seemed like a great and likable guy.

Good, if poorly edited article.
It is impressive to hear such an experienced coach say he learned so much about offense from Sid. It just confirms what I think, which is Lowe is one of the best offensive minds in the college game. IMO we went from worst to first in that perspective.

^So, I’m curious as to thoughts about JJ’s arrival, his tenure (how long will he stay?) and what it means for our front court? How will things look next year? We had breakout years in BC and BM. Who gets playing time, how does this pan out?

He’ll stay long enough to have a positive impact. I hope Sid get’s him in the top five of the draft – that would be a big positive in multiple ways whether he stays one year or two.
As far as the front line goes, things look dynamite for next year. Tri Slama Jama Baby. Everybody get’s playing time, but the ones playing the best get the most.
If we can get the ball up the court and get it passed down Lowe, not to mention the interior passing skills of all our seemingly unselfish big men – look out! We are going to just flat go off on some teams. Go off like we haven’t done in 16-17 years. We could really truly be a very scary, very dominant team.
Secondarily, all of our big men can move, and I expect Sid will be running those NBA triangle sets literally all over the floor. It could be like the anti-not the Princeton offense.
It’s going to be sweet. We may not when a championship, but there will be a quantity of high quality basketball. For those of you that only remember the 90’s and through 2005, you may want to find you some kind of seat belt and some ear plugs – not to mention one of those Red Coats!

North Carolina State women’s basketball coach Kay Yow won the inaugural Jimmy V ESPY for Perseverance. She was undergoing chemotherapy treatment for breast cancer while coaching the Wolfpack during this year’s NCAA tournament.

In Greensboro, at one of the “BBQ circuit” stops in May, TOB pointed out Kay and said “You want to know what a champion is? There she is.”

I keep wondering when the “Lowe’s” company will do some tie-in with Sid’s name. There’s certainly a signficant Lowe’s presence in the RBC Center. maybe hafter a better season. And I wonder how many people have called Monte, ‘Monty Toe’, pronouncing it like Sid’s last name.
Gotta agree w/ P1, going to be a fun year. The way Sid micro-manages the half court offense, I believe that will minimize the potential deficiencies at PG.

speaking of assistants, former Amato assistant Chris Demarest was arrested for hitting his girlfriend in a nightclub. I didn’t know he had been promoted to assistant head coach up there.
