ACC Football Schedule Rankings

'07 Football, General

In our big 2007 Football Schedule entry we highlight The Sporting News’ rankings of this year’s ACC football schedules .

We said, “It’s not their best work” but didn’t have more time to spend on the topic at the time.

Rivals.com also ranked the ACC’s schedule in this well-put-together-entry last week. Their work is crip, clean and concise. I like it.

It is interesting to observe the large variance in the perspective of TSN and Rivals in some of these rankings.

Rivals – TSN
(1) FSU / FSU
(2) BC / Miami
(3) UMD / GaTech
(4) NCST / Clem
(5) Miami/ VaTech
(6) Clem / Duke
(7) Duke / UNC
(8) VaTech/ NCST
(9) GaTech/ WFU
(10) UNC / UMD
(11) UVA / BC
(12) WFU / UVA

The following is the list of ACC schools based on an average ranking of the two opinions. The number that follows the team is the variance between the two ranking services:

(1) FL State; 1 average; 0 variance
(2) Miami; 3.5 average, 3 variance
(3) Clemson; 5 average; 2 variance
(4) NC State; 6 average, 4 variance
(5) Georgia Tech; 6 average, 6 variance
(6) Duke; 6.5 average, 1 variance
(7) Virginia Tech; 6.5 average, 3 variance
(8) Maryland; 6.5 average, 7 variance
(9) Boston College; 6.5 average, 9 variance
(10) UNC-CH; 8.5 average, 3 variance
(11) Wake; 10.5 average, 3 variance

(12) UVA; 11.5 average, 1 variance

  2. TampaPack Says:

EZU is playing at least 3 teams from the ACC this year, VT, UNX, and us. What is up with that?

  3. bigTHEW Says:

^ They wish so badly they were in the ACC

  4. RabidWolf Says:

What was the ratio at EZU again about 1 in 5 or 6 female students are scratching or burning in some fashion?

IF EZU was EVER to join the ACC they would find out really quickly that they couldn’t compete! The ACC does NOT allow partial or non qualifiers….that’s about 3/4 of their team, right?

RABID, i gradiated from App St in 04 and i was told it is more like 1 in every 3 students (all students, not female)at ECU have a VD…. getting the CLAP is a time honored tradition at ECTC. I had a friend who attended ECU tell me, and i quote “Youve never lived unless youve felt that sensation like your peeing out razor blades and then you walk into the infirmary and see the person you slept with is in their getting penacilin too”

    quality institution.

Statefansnation: You guys will like this link. Shows NCAA results since the NCAA went to the 64/64 team format. Amazing we are as high as we are having missed the NCAA for 10 straight years.

Seriously, how the hell did we miss the tournament for a decade???

Those years have been purged from my memory…..they shall not be discussed further. ;-)

  9. kool k Says:

ECU awarded me a BA in Communications in the year 2000
That should pretty much sum up everything in regards to the quality of the institution. Of course, none of that really matters.
You know what does matter: IT’S DIVISION 1 FOOTBALL!
