That was a great game. I understand that the Baylor coach both played under and coached with Coach Yow on the U.S. Olympics team, and that they are good friends. That’s always a tough kind of game for a coach.
I was there on press row and sitting in on the press conference… it’s obvious that our players want these wins more than any team they play, and it has to be for Coach Yow. Coach Glance did an outstanding job getting up and yelling and directing for Kay, and I really wish everybody paid half as much attention to this team as they have been to the men’s. I have to admit that it took me a while to catch on to all the excitement, but since that Carolina game in Reynolds a few weeks ago, I’ve been hooked. I hope this isn’t Kay’s last year, but if it is, I hope we go out well and with our eyes set on a National Championship. There’s no doubt in my mind that Stephanie Glance will be our next Head Coach – she deserves it and has huge shoes to fill. Everybody tune in when we play UConn next, and Go State!
kb- I really hope now that the mens season is over with people here will pay more attention to the Lady Pack!!! I was flipping during that overtime game between the games!!! I love how these ladies play. Kadijah is THE toughest player(men and women) in college basketball. This team has had its eyes set on a National Title all year. its sad that people are just now realizing that.
I was a student when Coach Yow first came to campus. In all those years one thing could always be expected – her teams would play good fundamental basketball with heart (which this team has an extra sized portion). One of the top programs in women’s basketball for over 30 years. Those that haven’t seen the women play – do (and not just for Coach Yow even though that is an excellent reason) to see a fine basketball team.
I really wish this could be the year she gets an NCAA championship. They have proven that they can beat anyone on any given night. A crowning achievement to an outstanding career.
I was glad to see Tammy Faye Baker has found honest work as the head women’s basketball coach at Baylor. And apparently Tyler Hansborough has a long-lost (black) twin sister who plays for Baylor.
We beat one of the premier programs in women’s ball tonight, and may have to go through UConn, Duke, and UNC to win it all – that’d be one hell of a run!
If a choice had to be made b/n the men’s and women’s teams last night, I certainly would have gone with the ladies to advance–for obvious reasons. . . I suppose fate agreed.
Fantastic game ladies, and good luck against Uconn!! My love, respect and prayers go out to Coach Yow, as well.
–Guys, it was a GREAT run the last few weeks, and I’m thrilled Sidney has instilled such confidence in you all. . . “Next year” does not ring hollow anymore, so until then. . . Thanks to all of the players, Sidney and the rest of the coaching staff!! (Good luck to Engin Atsur!)
there was an article in the NY Times this morning about Coach Yow and the wolfpack; a great and inspiring read; Coach Yow is clearly living her passion, doing what she does best and inspires her – and has well-served all the young ladies over the years who have played under her coaching.
she embodies the spirit of keeping on – sticking with life – in face of grim facts. god bless her.
Coach Yow was hired before V and Kiffin, who were both hired during my Freshman year. Watching Whittington is like watching an instructional video on rebounding. She consistently gets excellent position and just out works everyone else for the ball. UConn will be tough enough to add to the mystique of this run to the Final Four.
Their inspirational run continues. Amazing.
Coach Yow, you and your team are amazing, and Wolfpack Nation is PROUD!
survive and advance – what heart!
Outstanding.
Really hoped to make it a Pack two-fer, but this one meant more.

Grats to Kay and our Ladies! Keep on truck’n!
Keep it up Coach Yow! Great heart by the team, and the Coach!

Congratulations to the Pack! Keep up the run.
Where V, Yow and Kiffin all hired the same year?

Nice article from UNC guy Thad Williamson on why he’s rooting for the State women.
