Love it.

Read into it what you will…but Murphy’s comments are pretty spot on.

This is from ACC Sports Journal’s website:

“(The NCSU football search) was done professionally, and it was done quietly. The consultant did the work, Lee (Fowler) kept it quiet, and no one was tracking my airplane on the internet. … I do believe this is a home run. (Tom O’Brien) told us exactly what he is all about. He is about winning championships on the field. He is about having discipline off the field, graduating his players, getting everyone their degrees and becoming productive citizens.

“To me, the future of N.C. State athletics looks very bright. Sidney (Lowe) has already demonstrated that he can coach. He has already demonstrated that he can recruit. Give us another year or two in basketball. My guess is that our football team has more talent, comparatively speaking, than our basketball team does right at this particular time.”

    One comment about O’Brien, and one off topic comment, which I though was kind of amusing.

    I knew he would discount it some way, he just cannot help himself and he just had to. What a classy guy. He’s still the all time winningest, in his mind anyway.

    Interesting statement by Dean, especially since EweNC goes back before there were national champions, finds an undefeated season, and annoints themselves champions, and has the gall to hang a big banner for it. If you should never list a coaches total record, why then should the said school take records before there was any national recognition for basketball, and use it to plaster all over your arena and sports information as if it were fact. The ego is just as strong as it ever was. For a coach that single handedly forced the NCAA to change the rules (installation of the shot clock) to save the game, he should do as any other respectable coach would and congratulate the new leader without your personal egotistical comments attached. Is his statement what you would consider proper UNC etiquette? We can’t control Foulup’s comments, but at least he only insults State fans.

    New Year’s Predictions….maybe….

    If TOB is HALF the manager that we read about….then could HE be a successor to FUF…maybe Cowher will decide that he has enough $$’s and the fact that Alabama has rasied the College Pay $cale to such heady heights that BC could “exist” in Raleigh and NOT want to go back to the pro’s….all the talking heads on the networks and cable shows say he will be back within 18 months…MAYBE…

    I vote for TOB for AD….in 2008 or 2009….

    Any word on CTC’s Recruiting Guru…if I read all the pressers, he’s HISTORY…also….any scuttle on CTC?

    No word yet on Cignetti, but my guess is he’s gone. That is fine with me. Go ahead and give O’Brien a completely clean slate with all of his own assistants so we don’t have to continue any hangover debates concerning the Amato regime.

    No surprise about LF. This search was night and day from the one in April. Seems like Deano is good at talking out of both sides of his mouth.

    No one had to track his airplane this time because the search was done the way the BB search SHOULD have been done. Professionally and without a bumbling AD screwing it up.

    So the only think our interpid leader did was keep his mouth shut. While I admit keeping his mouth shut is an accomplishment of biblical proportions for LF, an AD should do more than that for the mega $$ he is being paid.
