"Hammering Amato for having a 4 win, 2 loss (66.7%) record against Wake when our pre-Amato record against Wake was 56 wins, 31 losses (63.6%) just doesn’t make any sense to me."

It does when you consider the facilities upgrades and other benefits heaped on Amato, with a result that his W/L against one of the lamest programs in the ACC is precisely 3.1% better than the previous overall W/L against that program.

And, that doesn't even take into account that at one point Wake and State were fairly similarly sized and resourced institutions, thus making the earlier matchups much more even.

The local and national hoots of derision that followed the 2003 asskicking - yes, asskicking - by Wake speak for themselves.

Looks like we're very close to a deal for a two-game ESPN Thursday night series with USC! This is GREAT news!

RickJ, I am a basketball fan foremost, but I love football also. I know where NCSU stands in the basketball arena and what is realistically feasible to except there. I would say that the blue outer regions of the atmosphere would be about a reasonable limit on that program.

I have never had any over zealous expectations for football until recently, when they were continually put it in my face and never down played by anyone from NCSU for a second. The people in charge of the football program have created their own dilusions of grandeur, feasted on, and thrown them out out for public comsumption.

These accomplishments that you mentioned over Wake, FSU, or who ever, are noteworthy and would already have been taken into reasonable consideration by all State fans under different circumstances. That is if it wasn't for the self emposed, way premature, and too lofty expectations set forth by the staff. That is the unrequired, and way too early, bed that they made for their ownselves.

Amato's record versus Wake Forest is better than our historical record against the Deacs.

The most impressive documentation produced by this site is the in-depth analysis of Sendek's record against all types of competition and the overall lack of success compared to our basketball history. I just don’t see any of this type of fact based analysis of Amato’s record that would warrant the criticism he is receiving.

If we do finish behind WF then Coach Red Shoes should be in need of Two Men and a Truck's services at the end of this season.

Well, given that Dorothy's had real trouble handling the mighty Deacs over the past three seasons, it's not a total shock to be picked behind them. In fact, we are more responsible than anyone for the "Wake's close to getting it done" kerfuffle that breaks out every year. It works like this:

1. Wake ekes out a win and a couple of very close losses against a non-conference slate that's unused to their chop-blocking offense.

2. State then flames out against Wake (2005 especially 2003) or close to it (2004 at home).

3. The media claims that Wake "is threatening in the conference," upon which Wake then proceeds to lose the rest of the season, except when they play Duke or can eke out a win over the Holes.

Simply put, our program makes Wake look better than they are, which is: Pretty awful.
