Richt told boosters in Chicago that he is donating $1 million of his own money to help fund the project, according to Matt Porter of the Palm Beach Post. James would not confirm the amount of Richt’s gift to the Post because it “had not been finalized,” but the gesture is one that should only further cement Richt in the good graces of Miami fans.

So what. UCLA just got 280M from Under Armour. I’mean reminder of cold war escalations.

Durn straight. It is an unethical arms war where tons of $$ is generated for the rest of the sports at a school and the best “producers” don’t get paid squat.

Funny, college sports as we know it would cease to exist if the athletes were allowed to test the “free market”.

The truth is that the same people throwing the huge money at college sports, are the same people throwing $$$$$ at our “elected ” officials.

    Disgusting, as it is insane.

Wait…Miami doesn’t already have an indoor facility?
    You gotta be kidding.

^ I had that initial thought too, then realized with Miami weather, it’s just an extravagance, IF you’re not factoring in the keeping up with the Joneses angle. In the past, it was far from a necessity, or even an important ‘want to have’.

On the very rare occasion Miami has weather that’s bad enough to keep them from practicing outdoors, there’s a good chance it’s bad enough to keep them from practicing indoors.

But then, nowadays, it does matter per image and the arms race thingy.

Miami’s facilities are haggard across the board. Hiring Larranaga and Richt can only help.

It sorta rains every day in the late summer in Florida…you just never know “what time”…why should the boys in Knoxville get to practice in nice cool weather when the Himmicanes are dying in the heat, humidity, and rain.

Jeez, you guys that all these “new players” want to be coddled and it’s all about “fucilities like Lee said”…
