  • CD, you "been there, done that"...Fast pitch softball will bring you to your knees..I thought I was a baseball player, but learned much more playing fastpitch in the Army(including the 1st Army Championship back in 68). Yog..I caught one of those knucklers also. Not that fast, but it "floated like a butterfly"! We played 4 games in that championship and we threw a no hitter, a two hitter, and two one hitters against them. Smoke, floaters, and risers! We had a pitching staff that would challenge the NY Yankees, but with softballs..

Give me a choice and I play fast pitch softball everyday. Once in a while I get to talk to some of the college pitchers(female) and they can tell in a minute that I'd "toiled in the dirt"...

The most intimidating game I ever participated in was playing in the middle of Jesup Federal Prison in Maryland. We played those guys(inmates) warming up for the 1st Army Championship that year and they beat the crap out of us...I think we were a tad intimidated though. I caught the first 5 innings, then we shifted and I went to left.. Danged guy kept threatening to "cut me" if I caught the ball! I wasn't too concerned cause there were "rifles in the tower", but didn't want to get shot by accident!

Like most of the really good fast pitch male pitchers, you gotta be over 35...That's never made sense to me...Girls can do it at 17. but guys can't until much later in life. Must be hormonal or something...

  • Let's not forget 5 State of North Carolina Championships in a row..And the trophy was retired at 5! Or was it 4? Heck, I quit counting!
