Vinny could play a little ball, no doubt.
’87 ACC Tourney is still one of my favorite all-time sports “moments”.

I also congratulate Vinny and the seven other ACC Legends (Battier, Budd, Grant, Edwards, Clark, Hand and Cremins). But not so much the other 7.

Why? Because these other 7 never played or coached in the ACC. I repeat: these other seven NEVER PLAYED OR COACHED IN THE ACC. Their records are not in the ACC record books.

So how can they be ACC Legends? Curious minds want to know.

Totally agree with 13OT. Calling the other 7 “legends of the ACC” is ridiculous. An extension of that logic would be for the ACC to lay claim to Louisville’s 3 national championships and Syracuse’s lone title. And of course, Maryland’s championship could now be claimed by the Big 10, and so on…

Vinny, as best I remember was a skinny freshman… who didn’t really hit it hard consistently until his Junior year…
    and then WOW…

It’s still a player development business.

I was a freshman at State in 1986-87. I will never forget that ACC tournament. Definitely one of my best State memories ever. And sadly not likely to be eclipsed in my lifetime…
