Strong efforts on both sides of the ball allowed Wolfpack Football to take control early and hold on late to top the Knights of Central Florida in their own backyard by a final score of 34-27.

In spite of a midseason season four game losing skid, second year head coach Dave Doeren was able to right the ship and win four of the final five games to close the ’14 season.

The bowl victory vs UCF gives the Pack its 8th win in the 2014 campaign, a +5 turnaround from a year ago.

The Pack carries a three game winning streak, not to mention some much sought after momentum, into the offseason.

Noel and Tocho had solid games on defense. Did not have to scream at TV because of defense. Offense, made me say a few bad words, but just enough to win. Would like to thank DD and team for a good year!

Wow. Just plain wow. Where did this O-line come from? We haven’t dominated a bowl like this since the dissection of ND in the Gator Bowl.

Way to go guys and way to go Coach D!

BOTB Game Balls go to some guys who are NOT household names….

While “Everybody Else” is talking about how the Wolfpack dominated both lines of scrimmage for the second consecutive game with it’s old fashioned straight ahead knock’em on their butts brand of football…

On Defense… our back four played suicide – one on one – no help – man to man defense – most all night !!!
It takes some cajones to do that… and considering how our DBs started the season…

    BOTB GAME BALLS go to:

    George Barlow – Cornerbacks Coach
    Clayton White – Safeties Coach

And since “Everybody Else” ain’t stupid…

    BOTB GAME BALLS go to:
Ryan Nielsen – Defensive Line Coach
Mike Uremovich – Offensive Line Coach

These four did a terrific job of motivating, developing and positioning their squads !!

    Thank You.

Great season Pack. Kudos to DD and to KY. Great bunch of guys. I’m proud of them as representatives of my school. Headed in the right direction and feeling good about the program and the type of recruits we are getting. Shining even brighter in the stinking proximity to the Cheaters who are going nowhere but down. We have passion and enthusiasm. They have unsupported arrogance and apathy. We are rightfully proud. They could care less while claiming superiority. We are. They aren’t. GO PACK!

Great way to end a good season. Have to give the staff credit. This team should have a bright future. And now expectations arrive back in Raleigh. I say welcome. Let’s exceed!

Well, well, well, hot damn well…..the tarholes and visor get made to look like the mess they are while the PACK look like a legitimate threat to the elite of the ACC next year. What a great Friday night!!!! I wish we wouldn’t have dug into the Carolina Panthers playbook and put them solidly away in the fourth but regardless of score, we dominated the game. Lord have mercy, I can not wait for next season!

Good win. In true NC State fashion, had to sweat it out until final seconds. I was so afraid that sack to end first half without a field goal was going to come back to haunt them. But as announcers said, State had a will to win..

Wow, we really have something going on. As D Yow said in the post game interview, this is just the beginning. We need to keep the staff in place, and keep signing the talent and we will be a team to be feared in the league in a couple of years.

I watched the game backwards, seeing the 2nd half live and the 1st half on PVR. The 1st was more back and forth than I expected. I was impressed with the secondary in the 2nd half, and the O-line overall. Of course they had to make me sweat at the end, but they held it together and pulled out a good win.

I was watching with a buddy and we both noted the difference between O’Leary and DD. One was dour and smirking at his players, the other upbeat and positive throughout. I’m glad we have who we have.

Just an awesome bowl day yesterday. DD has raised the bar for next season. Now we will get to see if this staff can continue to develop the kids they have brought in. It should be a fun next 2-3 years seeing what the ceiling is.

I’m of similar mind to bill. Everyone did a good last night, and one cannot understate the efforts of the offense. But my thought immediately after the game was that the game ball should go to the entire D as a unit.

One thing I noticed was that if you play well you get more time. That game was a joy to watch – and in the 4th the team withstood a serious comeback attempt. Perfect – not, darn good absolutely. I think we have something special with Coach D and the staff along with the players they are assembling.
