#Gameday! HUGE one vs BC

It’s #Gameday!

NC State will be wearing new helmets today in a game which importance I cannot overstate. Today’s game (3:30pm kickoff) vs Boston College is HUGE — not only for NC State’s season, but also for Coach Dave Doeren’s resume and his ability to make his life easier in the future through the recruitment of some top talent. Doeren’s wheeling and dealing from the sidelines – see the fake punt from deep in our own territory last year vs UNC-CHeats – has helped put him a little behind the 8-ball in the win/loss column, helping create a 0-10 record vs ACC competition since arriving at State. At 4-2 in 2014 and without a ‘sure win’ remaining on the schedule, the home games against Boston College and Wake Forest take on particular importance for 2014 season.

Additionally, Doeren & Company continue huge recruiting momentum and this weekend could put the Pack over the top with a handful of highly coveted players. After landing Tim Glass and Reggie Gallaspy in part due to a fantastic atmosphere vs Florida State, the Wolfpack will host a superstar group of key/core talent from the state of North Carolina today, including Johnny Frasier (FSU commit), offensive lineman Emmuel McGirt, Darian Roseboro, Daris Workman (official), Nyheim Hines [who had 4 more touchdowns last night] (official), Mike Hughes (official). Of course, it would help if it wasn’t fall break and most of the students were in town!

PP asking fans to enter stadium early for potential commit which is probably old news for most of SFN posters. Fingers crossed for win and multiple commits. Go Pack!!

Seems like I am forever at odds with the SFN lead author. The above comment is stated as a fact but it really is only an interpretation and opinion.
    1. The implication is Doeren is a “wheeler, dealer”? Nothing could be further from the truth. The evidence cited is false. Any other evidence could be interpreted differently.
    2. Did Doeren call the fake punt? Reported by someone who should know, it was called on the field.
    3. Had the fake punt been successful, it unlikely would have made any difference in the outcome of the game.
    4. Winning a prior ACC game would be like kicking a field goal in the Clemson game. It would stop the shutout talk but make no real difference.

We would all do well to look out in front of us and stop the compulsive looking in the rearview mirror. Trends are useful in predicting actions, but not so useful in predicting results.

It would be ‘nice’ if we won a few ACC games. It would be ‘nice’ if we went to a “crappy” bowl this year. It would be nice if a frog had wings so he wouldn’t bump his ass when he jumps.

Todays game pits BC’s strength against our weakness — rushing vs. run defense. We have a strong run game but BC has a strong run defense. We are favored probably because BC doesn’t have a strong passing game and we do. We’ve gotten our hopes up but winning today will be exceeding expectations.

Me? I’m going early and be there for the 2:30 ‘whatever it is.’ If we win, that’s great. If we lose, let it be respectable. My concern is for our OL. Chandler, Adams, Schooley, Barr and Crisp played every O-snap against both FSU and CU. I heard that Doeren altered his practice routine this week to give the players some rest during practice. Will it be enough?

    Thanx, Mr.Grey.
Doeren et al, may be quirky, but damned if I don’t appreciate them.

I too, don’t care much for the supposition, turned fact, approach. Yes, it is indeed a fact that State is winless, in conference, under this staff. Come on now. Do you think they’d be winless still, if not for the pleasure of FSU and Clemson, back to back?

I’m ready for our first conference victory since we killed Osama. I’m ready for some recruits to commit this afternoon. I’m most ready for our defense to start hitting people.

Maybe. Maybe not. Who knows? The fact is he is winless in the ACC after 10 games. That’s a fact, Jack.

I love football season. It coincides with “patch the leak in MrPlywood’s roof” season. That’s what I’ll be doing in the short term, hopefully I’ll be down off the shingles in time to watch State wrap up a conference win against BC.

BTW, I couldn’t access the comments through the article on the main page, using Safari or Firefox. Obviously going through the forum works.

X in a row doesn’t matter, so long as it doesn’t become two SEASONS in a row winless. Which it won’t. Pack rolls today.

    Huzzah!

Now, get pre-irritated about Miami/Cincy bleeding into our timeslot. And I guarantee they don’t cut away, even though that game isn’t competitive at all.

Do they still sell cocaine thru Miami? I’m tryin’ to figure out if the stadium would be a good drop because no one is there, or a conspicuos one for the same reason

Cincy-Miami looks like it will go till close to 4pm, if not over. Looks like the 3:30 tv start time needs to be more like 5pm. Games lasting up to 4 (or over) hours – ridiculous. Last season we missed almost an entire half of the State-Wake game on Fox South due to Ball St.-UVa lasting til 5 pm.

Is Duke-GT ever coming back on? Will we miss the entire Miss St.-Auburn game?

Duke-GT just kicking off second half … ACC Network coverage will last until at least 6pm.
