Back, and to the Left Game Thread

I ran out of dumpster fire memes, so I went with historical appreciation instead. I suggest talking more about your own take on the assassination and/or your favorite conspiracy theory(ies), rather than the game. Not even sure I will watch, frankly. It’s mind-numbingly stupid that we play this game at all, and I am extremely disappointed in DY for recently extending this series. In the future we will have to explore more deeply what drove that decision because I know from first hand experience that she has not supported the extension of the series.

Today’s sea of purple-clad methheads in C-F is in no way good for our program. But, of course, today’s situation comes to your courtesy of ‘Coach Lee Fowler’ who would’ve done anything in the world he could to put himself in the personal good graces of local politicians and ECU’s well-respected Athletics Director (at the time), Terry Holland. I have to ask how all of that chumming up to others worked out for Fowler, who remains unemployed three years after FINALLY being dismissed from NC State.

ECU can beat NC State and UNC-Chapel Hill in the same season for the first time in school history.

The most exciting sports event of the day, of course, is the Merseyside Derby. Everton scored to level the game at 1-1 in the 8th minute, and have controlled play since. This is what will determine the level of my foul mood for the remainder of the weekend, at least until Broncos/Pats Sunday night.

Can we get away with calling ourselves “patsies” ?

  2. bill.onthebeach 11/23/2013 at 9:03 AM #

A little boy whose parents graduated from ECU, was sitting in the bath tub, looking at his privates and asked “Mommy are these my brains?”

    The mommy replied “Not yet!”

  3. BJD95 11/23/2013 at 9:13 AM #

We have to be patsies. No way could anyone associated with NC State make that shot.

And of course, LHO was a red. One of the more underreported aspects of the whole deal was how smoking hot Mrs. LHO was.

Despite his public fervent support of the Warren Commission, late in life LBJ admitted “I think the Cubans got him.” FWIW

It was a blessing that I am not able to attend nor watch the game today. My Daughter had a tournament this weekend so I am hoping my frustration will be in check. However, I will be checking the game on ESPN full time so that may still turn out rough when I get kicked out of the tourney for throwing things around lunch time….

I’m hopeful that today is our day but confident I am not. Go Pack.

You would have to pay me a four figure sum to attend this game. At least.

Pre-planned trip to Disney with the kids got me out of this one, thankfully. Sold the ECU tix and gave away the Maryland tix.

I’m with NCST for the long term, but kind of like in a marriage, sometimes you just have to leave the house and go to the bar to let things settle down. That’s where “we” are right now.

    Until next year……

Until next year….that should be the marketing slogan. We have been doing that campaign for so long it wouldn’t take any extra work!

I’ve pretty much swore off reading any articles for the last couple of months so anyone got a link, or can tell me what’s the schedule, for this extension with EZU?

EDIT: Nevermind, I answered my own question:

“N.C. State and East Carolina will continue their football rivalry into the next decade.

The in-state schools have decided to add games in 2019 and 2022 to their current football series, which had only one game (in 2016) remaining on its previous agreement.

The two teams will play in Raleigh in 2019 and Greenville in โ€™22. Saturdayโ€™s meeting between them at Carter-Finley Stadium is their ninth since 1996.”

  11. Prowling Woofie 11/23/2013 at 10:10 AM #

We’ll be there to witness the spectacle at Carnage-Finley today, but only because I knew I couldn’t get another State fan to buy my tickets. I sure as heck wasn’t going to sell them to any Pierats !!!

    Miracles do still happen….

BJD – I thought the Toffees had the win in hand this morning. Too bad that Sturridge pulled back a draw. I guess the only good thing is that it means that Liverpool are going to sink out of the Top 4.

And for people who think that Duke and UNC are the closest rivals, Liverpool and Everton’s stadia are 0.9 miles apart and have possibly the fiercest rivalry in England.

Hoping browntowners don’t hang 55 or more on us. Been there, done that.

“Back, and to the Left” ….That is one magic loogie.

  15. BJD95 11/23/2013 at 10:20 AM #

Yep, Alpha. Went from an hour plus of misery, to fifteen minutes of ecstasy, to fury again. Woke up at least one kid. Everton surely does know how to let up at precisely the worst time.

Pretty much ends Evertonian hopes for Champions League qualification, which is the only way we had a chance to keep Lukaku. Without Lukaku, the future looks pretty dire. As the Brits like to say – FFS.

I find that in times like this, it is best for my sanity to distance myself from the internet, and particularly the message boards. It’s just a game. My own personal happiness is not connected in any way with the outcome of NC State athletics competitions. I will continue to cheer on the team, as I always have, but win or lose, I will wake up happy tomorrow to live another day, and I hope the rest of you good folks at SFN do the same.

Thanks for the Seinfeld “second spitter” memories. Took my mind away from murder for at least a few seconds.

I think next week, in honor of kicking off the holiday season, we should have a Festivus game thread.

The airing of grievances might take a while, however feats of strength should be rather brief.

  20. BJD95 11/23/2013 at 11:02 AM #

I can already see “A Dumpster Fire Festivus” title in my head. You win the internet, Wuf.

    Feets of Strength!!!!

I live down here in Craven County, just 30 miles from ECTC…so many people around here are UNx basketball fans AND ECTC football fans, and the majority of them have never set foot on either campus.
