Tudor: State, UNC should “unite” in Omaha

Caulton Tudor (N&O):

If you’re a N.C. State fan or if you’re a UNC fan, and if you’re going to Omaha for the College World Series, bury the hatchet just this one time.

Please.

Of the eight qualifying teams, State and UNC fans face the longest journey to Omaha. But unless I’m off base on this guess, there’ll be as many or more Wolfpack and Tar Heel fans in Omaha as there will be from the other six schools — Indiana, Louisville, Mississippi State and Oregon State in addition to UCLA and LSU.

And although I realize this may be asking for the impossible, it could be important for the bitter ACC rivals to bond after Sunday.

So, let’s look at this reasonably: is Tudor asking too much?

Quite simply…

Yes.

Disregarding the fact that the so-called Carolina Way is a giant lie and The Flagship has built its “greatness” upon decades of systemic academic fraud and athletic impropriety, and ignoring the fact that it’d be shameful (shame, something no one over there knows) and immoral to align ourselves with them, you must never forget that one indelible trait shared by every true State fan is an impassioned, unwavering hatred of Carolina. There is no gray area here. One of the primary duties of every true State fan is a lifelong commitment to deconstructing the Carolina Way.

And we’re supposed to “unite” with them for the betterment of the ACC?

Well, like the great Raylan Givens says, “Me and dead owls don’t give a hoot.”

I’ll bury the hatchet. Right between the shoulder blades (figuratively).

4in12, while scouring the net for that article, I did come across an SI write up which featured this line that I thought people would enjoy:

“Soviet Coach Vladimir Kondrashin, believing he was being jobbed by the scorekeeper at UNC’s Carmichael Auditorium, threatened in the first half to take his team off the floor, but otherwise the game at Chapel Hill was a typical stop on the tour.”

Of course. I have a sensitivity to that particular subject matter and would rather see it not used in such a cavalier fashion which is why i responded. Better examples of hyperbole exist for expressing hatred of the holes.

Carry on with regularly scheduled hole bashing.

    Can’t argue w that.

The only time we’ll ever “unite” with Carolina is when we’re at war or if we marry one (and some say that’s the same thing.)

Hyperbole: is the use of exaggeration as a rhetorical device or figure of speech. It may be used to evoke strong feelings or to create a strong impression, but is not meant to be taken literally.

“This grocery bag weighs a ton” of course it does not weigh a ton

“Go to Hell Carolina” I actually don’t want anyone to go to Hell providing there is even such a place.

Nice one alpha. There are two such marital unions in my immediate family. When the fur starts to fly, I lob a couple of verbal grenades into the mix and walk away laughing hand in hand with my wife, a 1991 State grad.

Wouldn’t it make the ACC look like a bunch of p***ies if 2 hated rivals united?

I’d pull for the Taliban team to beat Carolina.

^i wrote that prior to reading previous discussion…not trying to offend anyone except Carolina fans.

    Better examples of hyperbole:

I would unleash a rabid dog into their locker room.

I would push Mike Fox off of a cliff given the opportunity.

I would set their team hotel on fire.

I’d happily watch as their team bus plowed thru the guardrail and careened over a cliff.

OK, maybe some of those aren’t hyperbole.

    😀

I have dated Hole fan women, and would do so again. But the more exposure to Hole fandom one gets (no matter how much you may like the person overall)…the more the Holes turn one’s stomach.

    In my experience, anyhoo.

I have no desire even to have the hatchet in my hand. I’ll gladly trade it in for a nice sharp ax, preferably from the Tower of London’s collection.

    And I was a Commie-lover in 1980 too.

So if non-ACC fans start calling out the holes for being cheaters, we should get their back right? What a joke. How about this, take down a banner or two and I’ll cheer.

I thought the N&O put this old drunk out to pasture years ago. This is as big a blood feud as you can get in the CWS with the last game going 17 innings, and this coot writes the “can’t we all just get along” article?

  15. TLeo 06/14/2013 at 10:23 AM #

What he is probably really trying to say is that State should be satisfied with just making it to Omaha and should now bow out gracefully and lose so the ‘Holes can advance. After all, it is their “right” being so superior in every way to all others. F# him and the ‘holes.

  16. blpack 06/14/2013 at 11:36 AM #

There will be no uniting in this instance at my house. I hope we beat the tar out of them.

  17. MP 06/14/2013 at 12:27 PM #

    LOL at NCSU84.

Caulton… I guess I’m supposed to be ‘outraged’ or to feel sorry for you… Just retire already and stop trotting out drivel.

  18. BullPack 06/14/2013 at 2:52 PM #

Just so I’m clear…they already seem to have the uNCAA in their backpocket, they certainly own the ACC Commish and BOG. Now, we’re being asked to help too. How many litter bearers do these royal @$$holes need? I prefer to be a pallbearer.
