Powered by big days at the plate from Tarran Senay and Jake Armstrong, and a workmanlike outing by State starter Carlos Rodon, Wolfpack Baseball took the first game of this weekend’s three game series against Wake Forest on Friday night in Winston-Salem by a final score of 12-6.
Senay would go 5 for 5 on the day with 3 RBI, including a solo HR in the 8th, his 3rd of the year. He also scored 3 runs. Armstrong also took Wake deep for his first HR of the year, a 3 run shot in the 5th that broke the game open for the Pack. He would go 2 for 3 on the day with 4 RBI and would also score twice. Between Senay and Armstrong, the two would either knock in or score (or both) 10 of the Pack’s 12 runs.
Brett Austin and Bryan Adametz both had 3 for 6 efforts. Austin would double, knock in 2, and steal a bag (5) on the day, while Adametz would record an RBI and score a one as well. Grant Clyde had 2 for 4 day with a double, an RBI and a run scored, and Logan Ratledge would go 2 for 6 including a double and a run scored.
In total, the Pack would hit safely 19 times on the day on their way to their 12 run output.
Lefty Carlos Rodon would get the start for the Pack and would go 6 complete innings to get the win (2-2). Along the way he would allow 3 runs on 5 hits while striking out 8 and walking 3.
Frosh Will Gilbert would start the 7th in relief, but some untimely boots behind him would set up a very shaky day for for the young lefty. Though he would give up only a single hit on the day, as well as one base on balls, he would fail to retire any of the five batters he faced and would leave the game having given up 3 runs (0 earned, however).
Josh Easley would enter and go the rest of the way (3.0 IP, 0 runs, 2 hits, 5 Ks, 0 BB), shutting Wake down in the process and recording his first save of the season.

Notes:
- Carlos Rodon’s 8 Ks now gives him 54 on the year. He has struck out at least 8 in each of his five starts.
- The Pack’s 12 run day is the 5th 10+ run game of year, one of which was a loss (24-12 to Elon).
- The win runs the Pack’s record to 15-4 (2-2 ACC)
