State survives Virginia Tech, ACC officiating blunders

NC State had to go to overtime because the Atlantic Coast Conference officials couldn’t monitor the free throw lane one of the most simple and basic rules of basketball.

In the end, the Wolfpack defeated Virginia Tech 90-86 to continue to fight to be positioned for an important #4 or #3 seed in the Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament. State continues to be ranked in the Top 20 of most computer systems, including the RPI where the Wolfpack also has played one of the ten toughest schedules in the country at this point of the season.

The following two videos were a couple of the more fun calls (or no calls) from the ACC officials today that have already hit the internet — the second of which is everyone’s favorite and a perfect example of how/why Richard Howell has been so foul plagued throughout his career.

Vandenburg only has to play 2:30 quality minutes and it could make a BIG difference. That gives TjW a few more minutes on the wing, which could enable us to move Woo to the two for multiple minutes per half.

I’m not saying that all THREE be on the court the same time, just that sub patterns could help facilitate our flexibility in our main 6 players. Right now it’s just get in there so he doesn’t pass out.

we are near the top of the league in 3 point defense – people keep saying that we are bad, however – right near the top in opponents 3 point shooting:

    1. Virginia 25 131 439 .298
    2. Miami 24 143 475 .301
    3. Duke 25 115 380 .303
    4. NC State 25 154 507 .304
    5. Maryland 25 158 508 .311
    6. Georgia Tech 24 139 438 .317
    7. Virginia Tech 25 188 576 .326

This website needs to add “thumbs-up” and “thumps-down” toggles to each post. I think it would be eye-opening for some to see how people actually feel about what they have to say.

TeufelWolf, even if as a temporary experiment, I think that’s a great idea. “thumbs up”

Maybe just a thumbs up for things that are especially liked to keep things from getting to negative.

I agree with FunPack that we seemed to play a little better after CJ had had enough. Also, I know it was a blatant violation at the end to force OT, but look at the freeze frame of the play and see where our guys are on the court. WTH was TJ Warren doing? The only guy off the floor was Howell. at some point the guys on the floor have to make a better effort. One more point, someone commented who calls traveling anymore? They called one on Purvis in the second half……..just sayin’
