CJ Leslie provides 3 must see moments vs FSU

I’m down in Austin, Texas ths week and therefore missed State’s solid win over Florida State. But, I did notice that TJ Warren had double figure rebounds and cannot imagine the positive impact that improved defensive rebounding will have on NC State’s chances in March!

I also noticed a lot of tweets during the game about some nasty dunks from CJ Leslie. So, it was awesome to see the ACC Network had highlighted three of Leslie’s dunks as “Must See Moments”. I think the third one is my favorite.

My sympathies, hope you got it on DVR. Certainly one of the more enjoyable game so far this year.

I hope we see some more of that Saturday.

I couldn’t believe it at the time, and still can’t believe, that the out-of-bounds play actually worked! I enjoy seeing a staff that uses the OB play as something more than just getting the ball in play. Maybe I’m just jaded after many years of watching us have to heave the ball 3/4 of the court just to get it in. I know that sometimes is the only play, but I love seeing the team run screens and movements designed to get easy shots from the baseline. There was another great play in the game where Wood inbounded the ball and then slipped in to the corner for a wide open three. Good stuff.

The most impressive thing was the fact that Calvin’s head seemed to be rim high on several occasions.

Wilmwolf I also thought the play by woods was great. Inbounded, ran to the corner, had it passed back to him and drained the 3.

I loved the inbounds play when I saw it the first time, when BC ran it for Odio against Duke. 🙂

    Great plays – especially live.

On another note, I know Wittenberg is one of our own, but he’s an awful commentator. He could at least make up for the voice/delivery with an anecdote we haven’t heard 100 times. I mean, in a game where TJ Warren completely goes off, why not talk about his dad’s playing days a little bit. He made a comment that he knows Tony and told him his son’s better than him, well neat…why not take a few minutes to contrast them, or recap Tony’s career. There’s a lot of airtime to fill, surely there’s something with more meat to it than how “Brown distributes the basketball” and “Leslie really gets up.”

Since I’m bitching, I’ll provide links for the interested.

    Calvin can elevate…

I just posted a screenshot of the elevation in the Monster Jam thread in the forums. Is it possible for the hoi polloi to post images here?

El Scrotcho, yeah, unfortunately, you’re right. Whittenburg will always be loved for his place in history, but he’s not particularly on the ball. They ran a graphic at the beginning of the game talking about our close games, including our one-point loss to Clemson. WTF? We won that game if I recall. Both announcers just went right along with it, as if the graphic were correct.

Whitt told the same story about telling Tony Warren his son was better than him twice. There’s not a lot of in-depth analysis going on there. It’s a shame.

They should try Julius Hodge out for a game or two. Might need to put him on a 3-second delay, but I bet it would be entertaining as hell.

    I got a crude camera-phone screen shot of a replay of the out-of-bounds alley-oop, Plywood… see link…

StateFans, hope you’re enjoying Austin – I love heading down I-35 from Dallas. If you like barbecue I’ve been told several times ( tried twice but lines were around the block once and meat was sold out another time – it’s popular get there early) about a barbecue joint called Franklin Barbecue at 900 east 11th, just east of I35. Hope you enjoy Austin.

Love Calvin’s last dunk as well

    StateFans/Dallas-Pack,

    When in Austin:

Torcy’s or Taco Deli for breakfast tacos, J Mueller or Franklin’s for BBQ lunch, Polvos or La Condessa for margaritas and mexican dinner. Too many bars to recommend, Mean-Eyed Cat, Uncle Billy’s or Continental Club will keep you around locals and away from 6th Street. You will gain weight but at least you will enjoy the calories.

If you find yourself in Austin on gameday, try the Tavern, Black Sheep or Red’s Porch to watch Leslie’s next jam session.

Go Pack and God Bless Austin.
