Wheelchair: Greatest floor storming in history

H/T here

That’s a person in a wheelchair storming the court. Or rolling the court. However you want to look at it. They received some assistance, sure, but with that help the wheelchair was first to center court.

It’s hard to see what happens next, though it looks like the incoming crush of students plows into the wheelchair. Hope that person is OK, but the bravery and hustle has to be commended.

We’ve got confirmation that the kid is ok.

Additionally, via Ryan Tice at the Wolfpacker we get this gorgeous picture of the aftermath.

That was soo awesome on live tv

  2. Wufpacker 01/12/2013 at 2:06 PM #

I hope he’s OK as well. But if he isn’t, there’s definitely worse ways to go! 😀

LOL, That’s GOTT to make SportsCenter.

I’m sure if he got banged up a little he’ll say that it was totally worth it.

That was the first thing I saw – the wheelchair dude in the center of the court. Hope he’s okay and had a great time.

The players also looked like they were having a great time too.

rolling the court? lol that’s awesome

really hope that kid is fine

WRAL’s Derek Medlin spoke to him on the phone. He’s fine, Leslie did help him up and carried him around for a bit, and apparently, there is video from his phone. Said it was “totally worth it”. See: https://twitter.com/derekmedlin

Haha – Privette said the decision to rush (roll) the court was the “dumbest thing I’ve done in college, but so worth it.” Fair enough.

  9. PackAmy 01/12/2013 at 2:43 PM #

Personally, I think that if that is the dumbest thing he’s done in college, he’s a pretty good kid.

The Athletic Dept. should get him a new NC State branded wheelchair and get some national press out of it!

In the ESPN video on the front page, you can see Leslie carrying him while celebrating in the crowd. Then as the final camera shot cuts away, Leslie looks like he is lowering him back into his chair.

Will Brinson @ Twitter sums it up best, “Best part about wheelchair dude at the State game? Apparently CJ Leslie picked him up and carried him out of harm’s way.” A 21 year old having just won perhaps the biggest game of his life has the fortitude to do what he did speaks volumes about his character. At the age of 21 in the same situation, I do not think I would have responded the same way. Way to go CJ – I mean Calvin.

  14. TLeo 01/12/2013 at 5:12 PM #

Very classy act by Calvin to have that presence of mind among all the celebration

  15. tractor57 01/12/2013 at 5:25 PM #

Big props to CJ for making a difference. That was a Calvin like response.

CALVIN….You know when you “win” the game and then turn around and “win” the postgame in a totally different way…. you know it’s your day…

Stuff like this doesn’t happen in the NBA… We’re all kinda glad you stuck around with Coach GOTT this season.

That’s what Wolfpack Unlimited is all about 🙂

I’m not a fan of “rushing the court” or the football field. I’d prefer to keep it under control and act like you’ve won it before..Primarily because of injuries…

But if you wanna “poop in your britches”, have at it!

It’s part of college guys. College is about being irrational and doing crazy things. College is fun. Enjoy the excitement. Let the kids have some fun. Storm away….

  21. Prowling Woofie 01/12/2013 at 8:45 PM #

Exactly, GAWolf – it’s about having fun and enjoying the moment. I can remember storming Hillsborough Street more than once back in ’83…

  22. 44rules 01/12/2013 at 10:14 PM #

Highstick, that’s the thing. Unless you’re old, like me, and remember TT&B and the V years (or really old and remember Mr. Case), we haven’t won it before. Those kids storming the court only have real-life memories of Les, HWSNBN and Lowe.

  23. ancsu87 01/12/2013 at 10:45 PM #

I remember storming the court after victories in the 1982-1987 period I was at NC State. I also recall, although in some type of induced fog, storming the brick yard after every early round NCCA T game in 1983. I have no problem and expected nothing less if that storming the court upon winning this game. In my mind it validates what we have been saying all along and invalidates the dumbasses like Gary Parrish who said we don’t belong and our fans are living in a dream world. Did you see Leslie out there with the student body? What other university fan base could have gone through the 20+ years we did and still have a lost generation totally into NC State BB???

  24. JohnGalt78 01/13/2013 at 9:10 AM #

TheCock suggests we should not have rushed the court. We’ll rush the court if we damned well please.

  25. Pack Mentality 01/13/2013 at 2:11 PM #

The home team can rush the court whenever the hell they want. It would be great if Gott addressed it and said that as the students of the home team, they can feel free to rush the court after every victory over UNCG if they feel like it, and Gary Parish can kiss our ass.

When I was a student it was a lot of fun rushing Carter Finley and Reynolds and I hope the current students get plenty of chances.
