So some Chinese bastards really took their toll on our forums that we had to take down to stop the bleeding. Really adds insult to injury after last night.

So use this thread to post things you would have otherwise on the forums.

All our volunteer labor is on hand and working on getting the new platform up. Stay with us.

can you somehow require admin approval of access right applications to keep the riffraff chinamen (yeah yeah not the accepted nomenclature in the parlance of our times, but it fits these spammers) and tarholes off the forum?

I am not surprised. Been watching ACC bball for 2 decades. Life on the road isnt easy. Wake is a rivalry game too, so it is no surprise they were fired up. We lost 2 games by 3 points. Come on, the sky isnt falling. Gott is a good coach, try counting how many times we score out of timeouts. Off night, in a little funk.

Everyone knew lots of fouls are an achilles heel. We are still one of the best teams in the conference.

No more General Tso’s chicken ’til they stop spamming.

Hopefully this team comes out fired up for UNC after this week with the intention of proving people wrong.

Basketball team decided to replicate the efforts of the football team when they play in WS. For some reason, WF gives us fits in all sports.

“We are still one of the best teams in the conference.”

Guess our expectations are lower than I thought. I mean, some of us thought that maybe, just maybe, we’d be one of the top teams in the country following a Sweet 16 run and a stellar recruiting class. Doesn’t look to be the case.

  7. pakfanistan 01/23/2013 at 12:55 PM #

    Two years after going 15-16?

And after five years of finishing in the bottom 4 of the ACC?

Everyone take a deep breath and step away from the ledge.

Now, we are blessed to have what we have in Coach Gott. So far, he has been a miracle worker with what he has had to work with. Has he made mistakes? maybe, but who hasn’t or wouldn’t?

Be careful, Louisville just lost their 2nd straight after earning the #1 ranking. Anyone checked the boards over there to see if they are trying to run Pitino out of town?

I still think we need to trade a “great recruiter” assistant coach for an assistant codes with responsiblity for teaching defense. (defensive coordinator?) Or just add one. I think Coach is an excellent offensive coach and recruiter who could use a little help on the other end. He’s good, not great.
Sendek’s best defensive teams were when he brought in Hunter to focus on it. Of course he was weak in the other areas.

Crazy game. State had no answer for Wake’s Thomas. Early foul problems and inconsistent calling of fouls by the refs really gave State problems. They got our guys on some ticky tack stuff early in the game and then later on it became a bar brawl. Especially at the end of the game, our guys were mauled by Wake, but no calls were made.

When I see this kind of game it makes me wonder if its not all rigged. State shouldn’t have lost this game and Wake shouldn’t have won it.

  11. tractor57 01/23/2013 at 1:41 PM #

Maybe the best State had for Thomas last night was Vandy. At the least I thought his minutes were the best he has had this season. Not a ledge dweller here but there are some issues – obviously free throw shooting and some tough ones on defense. Part of that might be trying to avoid fouls and another part a lack of focus. Focus has been missing since the Duke game. I’m not so bothered by losing on the road as how the losses on the road happened.

As to the forums it was very evident early this morning that there was an issue. Needless to say I have gotten more done today . Thanks for providing the forums and I’m maybe not so patiently waiting for their return.

This is nothing but sour grapes coming from de Thaey. Warren I’m wondering about. He’s such a quiet guy maybe he retweeted de Thaey because it echoes his feelings. I can’t help but wonder that. Either way I’d like some clarification from Warren and some type of official response.

ACC road game and 3 of your starting 5 have 4 fouls….you’re probably going to lose.

    That game was a mess.

  15. tjfoose1 01/23/2013 at 2:14 PM #

Wow. Who knew we had all these great coaches in our fan base. Where were you hiding for the 20 years pre-Gott? We could have used your master skills.

  16. budfox88 01/23/2013 at 2:25 PM #

OK, defense was awful, enough said. BUT…22% from 3pt, and 56% from FT…was way off and killed us. Go home and practice shooting every spare minute. Just 2 more baskets means 2 more wins this season! CJL, wake up man and play a whole game!

  17. pakfanistan 01/23/2013 at 2:35 PM #

I’ve got a Manti Teo question.

    Why do we care?

  18. gopack10 01/23/2013 at 2:36 PM #

    +1 foose

The ridiculousness I’ve seen so far after losing a game on the road in ACC play has been hard to read. Missed free throws, inconsistent foul calls and one/two bad plays sealed our fate. The sky isn’t falling fellas. A win against UNC would make it all better. A loss just means we are still growing as a team and aren’t quite as good as we thought we were. Still no reason to panic or start questioning our coach.

  19. patientwuf 01/23/2013 at 2:52 PM #

It has to be coaching to cause us to miss 12-15 shots from point blank range.

“NCAA admits own scandal from UM investigation” –
    Dave Hyde Sun Sentinel

    1:13 p.m. EST, January 23, 2013

How’s this for karma? The NCAA is investigating itself. That’s because its investigation into Miami’s Nevin Shaprio scandal has sprung a scandal of its own.

“The NCAA national office has uncovered an issue of improper conduct within its enforcement program that occurred during the University of Miami investigation,” an NCAA news release said. “Former NCAA enforcement staff members worked with the criminal defense attorney for Nevin Shapiro to improperly obtain information for the purposes of the NCAA investigation through a bankruptcy proceeding that did not involve the NCAA.”

Maybe they should investigate themselves for their lack of investigating unc.

Big DT Kenton Gibbs from Detroit committed today-had offers from Ill., Pitt, and Wiscy, among others.

Last night, I said that ‘I am done with this BB team, can’t take anymore…’ a buddy called today with an extra for the u*nx game Saturday and I am all over it. Pack sports truly is a form of addiction!

  22. Khan 01/23/2013 at 3:52 PM #

    1) We miss way too many easy shots
    2) We’re inconsistent at everything
    3) We play small in the post (aside from Leslie, sometimes)
    4) We are inconsistent at everything
    5) We get outworked too often
    6) We can’t shoot free throws consistently
    7) We are inconsistent at everything
    8) We have very little depth
    9) We don’t have anyone who is absolutely clutch when the game is on the line
    10) We are inconsistent at everything

  23. tractor57 01/23/2013 at 4:05 PM #

One exception to Khan’s comments is the play of Howell. That man works to maximize his talents. His transformation is the reason I’m not giving up.

Problems? Yes. Khan has posted a good list of issues.

TJ Warren has tweeted this afternoon that his retweet of TDT’s message does not indicate his feelings about Coach Gott and that everyone should calm down.

CJ needs to quit leaving his feet trying to block everything in sight. Generally, one of three things happens:

    1) He gets the block, we fast-break for a dunk – 5%
    2) He gets the block, but it’s goal tending – 15%
    3) He misses the block, but gets called for a foul – 15%
    4) He misses the block, no foul, guy makes shot – 15%
    5) He misses the block, no foul, guy misses shot, but CJ didn’t block out, so gets no rebound – 50%

If CJ “moved” his feet laterally, instead of “leaving” his feet to block shots, he would be MUCH better.

AND, he needs to hit FT’s. Not sure what has happened with Rich and CJ and shooting FT’s, but it may be time to call in a Sports Psychologist….at this point, it’s all mental.
