Pack beats Terps 20-18!

It wasn’t pretty, and if you saw it you probably used a lot of profanity in the second half, but State finally caught a break in College Park and after a wild final 5 minutes, goes home with TOB’s first-ever division road win and still in control of the Atlantic Divison.

Box Score

Go Miami vs. FSU tonight.

More to come soon…

TOB, I love you, I hate you, I love you. Congratulations to the Pack for getting the road division monkey off our back.

Don’t care how it happened. Don’t care what would have, could have, or should have. All I care is that we won the damn game.

    5-2.

    Big game next week.

Happy with the win, but the truth is that for once we got lucky. Less than one inch the other way, that ball falls through the uprights and people are lined up ten deep to call for TOB’s job. But, yeah, we got lucky so I’ll take it. Doesn’t mean I think that this is a “good” football team by any stretch, not for a minute.

This team played well in spurts, and a whole lot of bad in between. Penalties are a problem. Execution, still a problem (otherwise they contain the UMD option-run.) Play-calling, a bit inexplicable. We won’t beat good teams with games like this.

I am new to posting here but have been reading for years.I am a true NC STATE fan from Hope Mills NC. I now live in TN. I have stayed true to the Pack. I could not be more proud after tonight. I BELIEVE. GO DUKE tonight only.

  6. doug 10/20/2012 at 7:24 PM #

About time we had some luck. JUST WIN.

  7. packalum44 10/20/2012 at 7:30 PM #

Didn’t watch what happened how did we get lucky.

  8. Prof_Turby 10/20/2012 at 7:33 PM #

Twerps got a break when we knocked out their QB with Amerson going in for a TD on the int. No way in God’s green earth the QB is gonna make that tackle. 17 to 3 at half. Game over. I told my wife that penalty would cost us the game. It should have. We were fortunate and I will take it.

Doug, where do you live? I’m a pack fan in Townsend, TN.
Glad we don’t play Duke this year. I hope they can beat the holes.

    Packalum,

We kicked a FG to take the lead 20-18 with 32 seconds left. We the. Let the Twerps drive all the way down to the 16 yard line in 2 plays to line up for a 33 yd FG attempt from dead center of the hash marks with about 9 seconds on the clock. Twerps kicker bounced it off the left upright leaving us 2 seconds to kneel it down.

So, during a substitution a hole player just took out a Dookie receiver intentionally and no call. Good for the announcer for calling it for what it was.

Always take a win. Especially on the road. And especially against Maryland.

But there is no way on God’s green earth that this coaching staff should have coaching jobs at State after this year. I am more and more confident that that is exactly what A.D. Yow is going to say after the season is over.

This, TOB’s strongest, deepest team. A team even he was confident about pre-season. This team looks just as weak, just as inconsistent, just as frustrating as any other State team he has coached.

We play this way against Chapel Hill, and they’ll kick our sorry butts. If you want to know how the officiating will go in that game, watch the Duke game. Reddick substitutes in late and purposely knocks over a Duke receiver. Not only is he not ejected, there isn’t even a flag thrown.

That was the cheapest shot I have ever seen in a college FB game. During a substitution the Tarhole player runs on the field and pretends he does not see the Duke offensive player standing there waiting for the play to start. As the Tarhole player comes up behind the duke player he “leans in ” and knocks the duke player to the ground. I can’t wait to see what the UNC coach does after he sees the film or the ACC or the NCAA. The hole player should have been thrown out of the game and maybe off the team.

Fedora will make excuses for the Carolina player. They do no wrong, remember?

  15. DC_wolf 10/20/2012 at 8:14 PM #

I don’t know how we just won that game. I’m inclined to agree w/Sholtzma, though: no way we should be losing to the 2nd & 3rd string QBs… cripes.

I guess this is what it takes to snap a streak of 16 consecutive road losses to ACC Atlantic Division opponents… some lucky breaks; some bounces off the goal post… yuck.

But, 5 and 2. Go Pack

Luck…Good Fortune…whatever it is…I’ll take any kind of win over the Twerps…glad we have that bugaboo behind us…

Glennon’s numbers won’t look too good…but man that guy is SO even keeled…THREE drives in this game we failed to get in field goal range…but that last one, Glennon did exactly what is needed by getting us in field goal range and not taking a sack on his last at snap…wish we had that guy for a couple more years…

  17. WolftownVA81 10/20/2012 at 8:24 PM #

I won’t look a gift horse in the mouth, but…….
I don’t think the best team won today.
Somehow this win doesn’t feel that good and I’m still not feeling good about the rest of the season.

  18. MISTA WOLF 10/20/2012 at 8:26 PM #

Glennon had happy feet tonight really bad. He needs to regain that pocket composure this week and trust that o-line. Can’t believe we won. Hope the kicker from Maryland wins a game for them later on this season. While good for us it’s awful for that kid.

  19. MISTA WOLF 10/20/2012 at 8:29 PM #

And I’ll say this to just because we are N.C. State. All today’s victory did was prolong the heartbreak that will happen soon enough. Lord please don’t let it be next weekend.

  20. Master 10/20/2012 at 8:44 PM #

Damnation! We have to play a perfect freakin game for some people to have any joy in winning.

  21. WPPHAN 10/20/2012 at 8:50 PM #

Happy birthday to me, happy birthday to me, happy birthday to me, happy birthday to me! Thanks Pack for pulling that one out of your backside! Now lets go to Chapel Hill and make it 6 in a row!

  22. packforestry 10/20/2012 at 8:56 PM #

This winning divisional away games against a good defense, after a shitty call on a pick 6 that got taken back that would have given us a huge lead, and against two different QB’s that would take two completely different game plans, and after driving down the field with two minutes left to take the lead on the road against a team we haven’t beaten at home since 2004 SUCKS! Fire everyone. WE SUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!

  23. packforestry 10/20/2012 at 8:57 PM #

Word up Master. Pretty sad huh?

  24. blpack 10/20/2012 at 8:58 PM #

That substitution play doesn’t sound like something a tar hole would do. Always playing by rules and above reproach.
I’ll take the win. Welcome to Carolina Week.

    packforestry,

I was about to ask if anyone else thought that block in the back call was terrible; really should have been 17-3 at the half. Good to see Glennon lead another winning 4th quarter drive!
