I really appreciate all the stats. I know that this takes a lot of work.

We’re “supposed” to compete for an ACC title this year. I took your offense and defense ACC ranking numbers and averaged them out. This yieled 7.75. That number might mean very little specifically, but generally, it’s going to be hard to compete for an ACC title with that number in the high 7s. I didn’t even bother to look at it from a national perspective.

We’ll play better against UCONN because we won’t be overmatched from a speed/size/strength perspective, for the most part. We’ll probably win.

Frankly, I don’t see how we win more than 8 games this year….seven is more likely IMO. We won’t do much better than that ever under TOB. I don’t get all the “he’s an excellent coach” talk, unless your only criteria is that he runs a clean program. But if it’s winning big games or consistent 10 win seasons or playing for an ACC championship or playing in a BCS bowl, then he is far, far, far from an excellent coach. As long as he’s at the helm, expect very little change from what you see today.

The defensive stats that are the most troubling to me are the number of tackles made by our defensive secondary sans Sterling Lucas. Very troubling.

Other than GT vs VT and Clemson, who played a quality opponent? Our rankings in the conference are currently really skewed by the sample size…

Considering the fact that State was in a dime to the 42 package for nearly the entire game, the DBs would be doing the tackling.

Thanks for the clarification COWDOG. Was hoping that the DB’s weren’t having to make the majority of the tackles due to ineffectiveness of the dl or linebackers.

The good news is we’re great on 4th down and red zone defense. Glad there’s no stat for giving up the big yardage play.

“I don’t get all the “he’s an excellent coach” talk, ”

Perhaps the “he’s an excellent coach” talk is because NC State had 6 drafted and 6 make final 53 -man NFL rosters. 2 , Russell Wilson and JR Sweezy, made their team’s starting line-up. One of the starters, Wilson, was a 2 star recruit. Cole was the other 2 star and Manning was the 4 star recruit. Graham, Kuhn, and Sweezy were the 3 star recruits.

Perhaps you are looking at how many wins TOB has or the number of championships his teams have won, not what kind of coach he is.

Those who only see the season records say we will not get any better. I say they are wrong. Only time will tell.
