It is a slow, hot holiday weekend…so, just wanted to put something on the blog.

Gleaned from our message forums that I hope you visit with regularity comes this discussion about the news that broke yesterday that Erin Andrews is leaving ESPN when her contract is over at the end of the month.

A lot of (younger) college football fans identify Andrews as the pioneer for gorgeous women roaming college football sidelines (and actually doing a good job). These folks never knew the name – Jill Arrington! With this said…why don’t you do some of your own ‘googling’ and take a stab at our poll below.

    Melissa Stark was before Jill Arrington.

    When Gameday was here in 2004, Erin was just the “Gameday Crowd Reporter” while Jill was on the sidelines. But anyone who was there and saw how Erin worked a crowd knew she’d be at the forefront very soon. She probably only vaguely remembers it, but she posed for a (blurry) pic with LRM that day.

    There are prettier girls than Erin, but she has the hot-girl “it” factor” more than any other female in sports broadcasting. She’s like the older sister next door.

    I’m just saying that there is a mathematical equation that involves proportions. From that is created a chart of statistical probabilities. Nature only makes these proportions within a certain range. If someone falls outside of that range on the high end by a couple of standard deviations, then they are suspected of having given mother nature a little assistance. Men are not at all to blame for their behavior in that evolutionary and natural selection have programed men to find the most fertile mates with the greatest chance of reproductive success. This equation is programed in the male species’ brain to recognize that proportion and when he finds a female on the very high end of the statistical probabilities, then he must act accordingly or at least desire to act. He cannot control such a process no more than a predator could not attack and eat its prey or that the rain falls mainly in the plain..

    In layman’s terms: If she had big hips and had a little more meat on her bones, then her massive rack would be believable. Hey, but who really cares because God made men like that and thank God for that??? In short we all wish we could see the secret video of her. I, for one, would pay my nickel.

    Sunday, Fox said Erin Andrews will host a new Saturday primetime college football studio show.

    College football in Saturday primetime, dominated by ABC and ESPN games, has drawn increased ratings in recent years. Fox, as the network this season carries its first-ever regular-season college football, plans to challenge ESPN in that time slot.

    Andrews, whose ESPN contract expired Saturday, will host a new Fox Saturday primetime college football show that will debut Sept. 1.

    Her other Fox roles, says Fox spokesman Dan Bell, will include roles “significant” on Fox MLB and NFL coverage. In a statement, Andrews calls his Fox job “a once in a lifetime opportunity.”

    At ESPN, Andrews was a College GameDay host and reporter, as well as a sideline reporter on college football and basketball. In terms of who’ll replace Andrews in those reporting roles, one possibility is Jenn Brown who was recently taken off ESPN’s Thursday night college football for an undisclosed reassignment.

    I never thought Andrews was that great personally. She’s kind of doofy with a big nose, pancake butt and size 12 feet. As far as I’m concerned, if a woman is going to be unnecessarily injected into sports broadcasts they should be under 30, ridiculously hot and clad in a bikini and heels. Preferably with little to no speaking responsibilities.

    Erin has never been “SI Swimsuit Edition” hot, but for a sideline reporter, she’s pretty hot. If you saw her on the street, you probably would give her a second look, but you wouldn’t wreck your car trying. Personally, I think that without the video taping scandal, she likely would not have risen to the level of popularity that she has now.

    As for leaving ESPN, I think she has overplayed her hand a bit. Leaving a sweet job like hers to go to an unestablished (in the college football sense) network doesn’t seem to make sense.

    Of course, maybe her motivations are to move up to the NFL, in which case the move makes more sense. I have also seen rumors of her joining the MLB broadcast team, and as visually appealing as she is, she still couldn’t make up for having to listen to Buck and McCarver.

    @project20 – I missed the “pancake butt” photo. Most I’ve seen show a nice bump on shapely legs. But, of course, to each his own. I think the poll results at the top disagree with you.
