“I actually shed a tear watching this again this morning.”

Glad to know I was not the only one. Awesome to see the turnout for their arrival back to Raleigh. Thanks for posting the vid.

I agree that Kansas is a really tough matchup for State. But I also know our team will be prepared and will go out and give a monster effort.

    Go Pack!

“GaWolf”…I’m right there with you. AWESOME video, but what is much more incredible, our players, coaching staff, and SUPPORTIVE administration, and fans. Go Wolfpack!!!!! Gott nailed it when he said they have worked hard and deserve it.

It takes a man of character to accomplish what Gottfried has done with this team. We’re lucky to have each other and hopeful that bind will carry on for decades to come! GO PACK!

On 620 the buzz (Raleigh) this morning I heard Adam Lucas (Tarhole Monthly) make a condescending comment about PACK fans celebrating our team and its Sweet 16 feat.
As sharp as he is, he can’t help but ooze with typical UNC arrogance. Much like the kind of arrogance Michigan and Indiana had just before they became irrelevant in basketball.

I’ve been proud of this team since early in the year. There was evidence from the get go that much had changed and was changing. I think all that hard work paid off this weekend and was recognized by the fans.

That’s EXACTLY the right response by a fan base — arrogant UNC and media types be damned. The team needs to know their hard work is being appreciated. That’s not going to do anything to hurt their desire to go further.

There’s nothing that will motivate them more than seeing a top 5 all time program like Kansas on the other side of the court (we’ve not played them in over 15 years) and knowing that there is a potential rematch with UNC coming. No celebration is going to alter that. If anything it would have been deflating to have just “come home” with no recognition.

Make no mistake about it Pack fans — our bracket has shaped up to be the toughest. Kansas is a very good team, is huge on the inside and plays physical defense like we’ve not seen all year (that game against Purdue more resembled rugby than basketball). I’m afraid our run ends here, but am hoping that we go all the way.

Even if it does end though, I’m proud of what our team has done. We’ve only made it to the Sweet 16 one other time in the last 15 years and that was mostly due to the will of Julius Hodge. This feels far more like a team effort — players, coaches and support staff putting the collective goal ahead of individual goals. I’m happy for all of them and hope that they continue to keep building in the future in this way.

I’ll close with a note that “packfanistan” sent me yesterday. In year one with a new (and competent) staff, we made the Sweet 16. Were NC State fans really that crazy to have had higher expectations than the results of the past 15 years? I don’t think we expect titles or Final Four appearances every year, but we ought to be able to able to make it to the second weekend of the tournament 1/2 the time. We shouldn’t be happy just backing into the tournament and getting blown out (like UVA did), or being too bad to even qualify (like the last 5 years).

This is awesome. On the one hand, I’m glad that the team gets to enjoy this run, and that a new generation of students and fans finally get to experience some magic. I like seeing the team loose. After all, you have to admit we’re playing with house money now. On the other hand, I hope they can control that emotion and “go to work” this week. They’re going to need all the mental focus they can muster to continue this run. While Gottfried has certainly toughened this team up and has them believing that playing hard to the finish equates to winning, we still suffer from mental lapses. If we can limit those lapses, continue to play good defense, and execute what I know will be a solid game plan we have a good chance. Anything can happen and I would like nothing more than to continue this run. But no matter what, I am proud of this team and how far they’ve come in not only wins, but with their teamwork, basketball IQ, emotion, work ethic, etc. It sets a good example for the next group coming in. And since I’m on a roll, let’s talk about next year. If Calvin comes back and we can stay healthy, maintain good chemistry and a work ethic, replace the leadership of CJ and Alex, next year’s team can really put us back on the map.

I know I am going to get ripped for this but I am torn about the video. I am all for celebrating and honoring the guys fot they have done so far which is well beyond expectations. With that said we are a dual national champion and there is enough screamig on this for a teenage concert…. 🙂

Either way great to see that people are excited personally I see the run as a great success step for the program showing we are back to be reckoned with and I hope that it will land us Anhil.

With all that said is Coack K now going to be able to recruit in the shadow of the other triangle teams 🙂

Hey Wolfpack! I’m a Jay-Pack or Wolf-hawk! I root for KU and NC State. My mom’s family are die hard State Fans and we’ve been to many football/basketball games in Raleigh. I’ll be honest, I will be rooting for Kansas this Friday as they are my home team, but either way, I’m a winner because if State wins, I will certainly continue to root for them on down the line in the tournament. ESPECIALLY if they face CAROWHINA. Please don’t say that we are like Carowhina with different uniforms. We are Crimson and Blue, but in NO WAY are we Carowhina Blue! YUCK! So, we are traveling to St. Louis to cheer on our Jayhawks, but good luck to the Wolfpack as well!

Great video – thanks for posting. Wish we could be going this year; but it isn’t possible. However, I feel pretty confident there will be more opportunities.

Same as the first video when we got announced. Some may say it’s overboard, but I think I like it. Gott has the kids playing loose. We have to remember, they are still 19-20 year old kids. These videos complement Gott’s message before the game which was “we got a plane waiting to take us to St. Louis.” I love that message. Some say, win the game first and then think about the future, but with 19-20 year old kids, they are thinking about the future anyway. Go ahead and let them and get their confidence through the roof. First step in getting back to relevancy for our program is thinking we belong….something Duke/UNC have tried for a long time to prevent us from thinking.
