Sunday in Raleigh

It is a BEAUTIFUL Sunday in Raleigh and we are still catching our breath from the great run the Wolfpack basketball program have given us.

Our ‘unwind’ was made a little easier yesterday when NC State downed #5 UNC-CH on the baseball field. (State currently leads Sunday’s game 3-1 in the second inning).

While you are gearing up for the Kansas-Carolina basketball game, I thought I would share the following comment from another entry on SFN as I shared the exact same observations and thought them worthy of note.

There are lots of Wolfpack flags and t-shirts out and about today, 2 days after the battle with Kansas. I think it’s a fair belief, for the first time since the 80′s, that this skirmish is just the beginning. What’s clearly true is that the formerly patronizing pats from the blue neighbors are now tinged with genuine concern. Wow, that’s a fine feeling.

Wherever we go from here, I hope to remember the feeling of this unexpected run. It’s been pure and rare and something that this team and staff made it’s own this last few weeks. Yea & thanks to those guys and to Debbie Yow, who may just be as lucky as she is good.

From here, goodness, lots of variables… next year could be a monster or merely dangerous but it surely seems there’ll be more folk looking up than looking down at the Pack. Please Gott, stay hungry.

KU is really pissing me off. Terrible.

  2. BJD95 03/25/2012 at 6:27 PM #

We saw this same KS weakness on Friday night – they simply don’t close games out well.

  3. Wufpacker 03/25/2012 at 6:30 PM #

    Been a heckuva game. Dammit.

White on Withey. That’s a lot of whiteness.

  5. BJD95 03/25/2012 at 6:33 PM #

Li’l Stillman almost got a T there. At long last, the kill shot?

  6. Wulfpack 03/25/2012 at 6:33 PM #

    BOOM! Ball game.

  7. Wulfpack 03/25/2012 at 6:35 PM #

Great game but KU is just too strong. Don’t think Marshall would have made much of a difference, honestly.

  8. BJD95 03/25/2012 at 6:35 PM #

Yep, I have written them into my bracket. In ink.

  9. Wufpacker 03/25/2012 at 6:35 PM #

Kendall Marshall looking like more of an in game coach than Roy.

  10. Wufpacker 03/25/2012 at 6:37 PM #

Well, assuming KU doesn’t blow it, I’m amazingly still 3/4 for my final four in my bracket. Amazing.

National Champion coming out of state of Kentucky this year, but glad we don’t have to see build up with UNC for Final 4 this year.

  12. JeremyH 03/25/2012 at 6:42 PM #

Let’s see if we can have an all-ACC final four next year to make up for this : )

I have said it before and may say it again – if Marshall wasn’t a Hole, I would really enjoy watching him play. They played hard today, their fans should be proud of the effort.

    my wish list
    -Calvin stays
    -Amile Jefferson commits to us
    -Henson, Barnes and Marshall go

Love that Roy could have called TO down nine when if was obvious couple possessions before they had nothing working offensively. Maybe the sorriest HOF on game coach ever,.but HOF no less. Look forward to beating down both these teams next regular season.

See? 13 point loss. We only lost by 3. I think that means we would have beaten Carolina by 10.
The NCAAT still had some joy to give.

While I’ll be pulling for Louisville, a KU national championship would at least allow us to say that we lost to “eventual” national champion.

FYI – Coach Pulley just tweeted Julius Randle is coming to play at Word of God!! HUGE!

A year of nearby recruitment for the coaches and attendance to home games (watching his buddy Purvis play) cannot be a bad thing for the Wolfpack.

Louisville is the only F4 team that won its conference tourney. Meaningless factoid.

I think Kentucky beats Louisville by 7-10, Ohio State nips Kansas, then Kentucky beats the shit out of Ohio State.

The Holes have bitten the dust!!! I can relax now and enjoy the tourney!!!!

  21. state73 03/25/2012 at 6:53 PM #

I hope all the “hole” fans remember we played Kansas much closer at the end than they did. I must admit that pulling for Kansas is like pulling for Duke, it leaves a sour taste in your mouth! Remember “hole” fans, your team was almost a unanimous choice to win it all preseason. No ACC championship No NCAA championship.Regular season is for seeding only. “tarholes” over-rated and under achievers. Can’t wait until next year. GO PACK!!!!

Louisville is the only team that I believe has a shot at beating Kentucky, but like BJD stated…I still think they lose by something just under 10.

Honestly, I have gotten over Cal’s rejection at the alter with NC State and really do not mind Kentucky winning, but I don’t want Harrow to get a championship.

  23. tractor57 03/25/2012 at 7:05 PM #

I haven’t got over Foulup’s courting Cal. The more I think about the debacle the more I want to sink a bass boat on Lake Gaston .

If Harrow get a NC by actually playing so good. As a redshirt – meh.

  24. Rick 03/25/2012 at 7:06 PM #

UNC played hard. They would have won it with km. I also hope bubbleguts never wins squat.

  25. BJD95 03/25/2012 at 7:09 PM #

Unlike some others, Calipari said later that NC State was a very good job. Never slighted or talked us down in the least. It won’t surprise you to hear that Fowler…less than effectively sold the position.

So no hard feelings. He may be even dirtier, but he seems less pompous and overbearing than the other marquee coaches (particularly Boeheim, K, and Calhoun).
