5 Most Unforgettable RBC Center Basketball Games

N.C. State plays host to No. 1 Syracuse on Saturday night, the first time the Wolfpack is facing a top-ranked, non-conference opponent in Raleigh since 1979. The RBC Center opened in 1999, and here’s a look at the five most unforgettable basketball games in the 12-year-old arena’s history: See Link

Video #4: While it can’t compete with some of Julius’ best quotes, I love when he claims that we should be #1 because we beat the #1 team. Also, any word on his nephew? At 9 or 10 years old, we should be hearing about his recruiting soon.

Video #5: Isn’t it nice to be the trampoline off of which Chandler Parson’s career sprung? That moment demolished any hopes I had of Sidney Lowe’s career and I will always remember Parsons  as “a good Dennis Horner.”

Speaking of Dennis Horner, apparently he is working out with the Nets. The Nets must have a new set of plays that revolve around the pump fake and need an expert. Fortunately the Net’s don’t have a #31 right now, so if Horner ever makes it off of the practice squad he will get to keep his tattoo. I can’t help but wonder if Deron Williams had any hand in getting is fellow flaming-basketball-tattoo-brother on the squad.

#2 didn’t even involve State and #4 was fictional. Blah.

Atticus: While Horner’s tattoo is something that I’m guessing that he regrets and he did love to pump fake, I don’t think it’s appropriate to run him down. He was the one recruit who actually stuck with NC State out of that class. He played four years and improved quite a bit (arguably more than any other kid under Lowe). He also kept his nose clean and graduated. That’s exactly the kind of student athlete we need.

I’ll always appreciate the sacrifices that he made for NC State and wish him the best at whatever he does. That’s the same for any player like him.

I hope he somehow makes it on with the Nets. We need every kid in the pros we can get.

Yeah, #5 was unforgettable. No matter how hard I try.

The Chris Paul punch game should be on this list.

Atticus, why the move of disrespecting Horner?

No such thing as an unforgettable game in the RBC since no unforgettable teams have suited up for NCSU in over 20 years.

^ Actually, I would argue that we’ve had quite a few unforgettable teams in those 20+ years, though perhaps not in the way you mean.

I felt as though opening night vs Georgia when Archie hit a big three near the end to win was a pretty good moment.

The last second shot to beat Maryland (Justin Gainey?) was also pretty big. But, I guess I can’t call it unforgettable if I have quasi-forgotten who hit the shot.

    Bottom line-
The RBC sucks… go back to Reynolds!

thekind^, not going to ever happen. That ship sailed 12 years ago.

How about the game where Damien Thorton put nuts in the face of some white kid from Maryland in January 2000 ((Sendek finally beat Maryland)? It was also the game where CTC was introduced as the new football coach.

What a worthless article. I guess is was written to remind us that in the last 12 years we have done nothing after we sacrificed ourselves to the UNC BOT for nothing (if one looks at the most recent sports scandal in the system).
