The Abyss 34, State 27 (Sunday 10am Update)

News & Observer:

“They had more energy than we did,” O’Brien said. “You can’t do that, especially on the road in a conference game. We have to look for leadership. We certainly haven’t gotten any out of anybody on this football team.”

You can say that again, coach. Keep in mind, leadership starts at the top.

*****

That went about as well as many of us expected. The losing in Winston-Salem (1997, ’99, ’03-’11) will continue at least until 2013; there are students that were in elementary school the last time State won in Winston. Once again, Jim Grobe outcoached TOB and Wake Forest was the better team.

Stat of the Day: TOB is now 0-11 on the road against Atlantic Division opponents. Wolfpack Unlimited!

“When Audie Cole is matched up against an opposing wide-out, we are screwed…and it happens alot.”

ED89, I posted this question on the forums, but it got locked for some reason. So, I was right, Cole was dropping back into pass protection quite a bit on some of those 3rd down plays? My internet feed was pretty crappy. I was hoping we were seeing the last of cole against wideouts last year. Was that the ECU game he kept getting burned?

TOB should be fired for not letting RW compete for the starting job.

It is my understanding, correct me if I am wrong, but RW, could have returned, but would have to have earned his job back, and rightfully so. So that is all on RW. I am happy with Glennon’ progress, and it will continue to improve. Go Pack!

    Ok your wrong.

In a surprising development, NC State head coach Tom O’Brien has given a scholarship release to quarterback Russell Wilson, the runner-up ACC Player of the Year.

Wilson, who is playing baseball in the Colorado Rockies organization, did not participate in spring practice. O’Brien recently made the decision that Mike Glennon will be the starting quarterback, even if Wilson had returned to the team.

TOB told RW he could return but would not be able to compete for the starting job because it belonged to Glennon.
