TOB Gives First Adult Perspective to UNC’s Problems

WRAL’s sports blog has condensed TOB’s latest radio show and his thoughts on UNC’s woes in a recent post which can be found here.

“I pray that it’s not a systematic problem. I don’t buy that ‘everybody does it’ routine. You don’t have to be that way. I think it all comes down to the leadership that’s set by the university itself, whatever that university is, and carried throughout the athletic administration down to the head football coach,” O’Brien said on his Wolfpack Sports Network radio show on Monday.

A better quote from Coach: “Hopefully as the NCAA says they got to deal with them hardly. They can’t keep slapping people on the wrist or they’re never going to get anybody’s attention.”

O’BRIEN WILL HAVE NO FEELING WHILE YOU BURN!

Finally some straight talk and telling it like it is! Go TOB!

News outlets reporting NCAA hit Bruce Pearl with punishments. Wonder if “The Chief” doesn’t show in October like the NCAA requested, if he will get punished also?

I liked how TOB frankly stated that EVERYBODY breaks an NCAA rule. He tells it like it is. But at the same time, he was basically saying that just because everybody breaks some minor/secondary rule does not mean “everybody is doing it”. I think he implied that while everybody does it, everybody is not doing it the way UNX was.

Pretty much everybody speeds, too. That doesn’t mean someone can get busted for going 120 in a 65 zone, and use “everybody does it” as an excuse.

wasnt there a quote from a week or so ago from TOB that basically said… while true its impossible to police every action your assistant coaches and players make, the type of people that break the rules are a direct reflection of the people that hired and recruited said rule-breakers. its an atmosphere created by the HC/AD/university that allows that type of behavior

Yeah, Pearl gets the 3 year show-cause ban…so when does Tressel get notified of his? When do the 216 records get released so Butch can step up and stand next to his buddy Black Santa to face his own reckoning? Won’t matter for the Big Chief anyway…he can sit back on $2.7 mill worth of hush money…

Truth telling day. We need more of that. UNC-cheat needs to hear it. Maybe an adult or two will show up over there.

    “accountability and responsibility”

Honestly, if we as Americans followed these words of wisdom in our everyday lives we would all be better off.

Nice to have a coach who is developing young people to be leaders on and off field.

Its really refreshing when “saying the right things” lines up with, well, saying the *right* things.

It’s all even better considering the winning when compared to butch. It’s beautiful really.

Hey Shav, Butch can’t get Pearled, remember, he didn’t know a thing about any of that stuff. Thorp said so…repeatedly.
