At the first team meeting, NC State’s players elected tight end George Bryan and defensive tackle J.R. Sweezy as team captains.
“These two young men are great choices,†coach Tom O’Brien said in a prepared statement. “They have shown great leadership throughout spring practice and in our summer workouts and their hard work and dedication have earned them the respect of their teammates.â€
Bryan, a two-time All-ACC performer, ranks ninth in school history with 13 touchdown receptions. He is the only Wolfpack tight end ever to earn all-conference honors twice and he is on the preseason All-ACC team for 2011.
Sweezy, an honorable mention All-ACC performer in 2010, tallied 13 tackles behind the line of scrimmage as a junior and led the team with six sacks. For his career, he has played in 26 games.
