Jimmy V for Friday

This thread and the need for a Jimmy V Run in Raleigh reminded me that I had failed to previously share the following video. And…don’t be concerned…the following video is nothing like the one we ran yesterday.

I donate monthly – they suck $10 out of my account every month. I don’t even know its gone. This has the potential to add up over time. I highly recommend it.

I recommend it as well. I’ve been a volunteer at the Jimmy V golf tournament for 11 years. Thanks to the folks at the V Foundation who manage things and the hard work of the researchers, by driving a golf cart or carrying a sign I get to feel like maybe I played a very, very tiny small part in raising money for research that helped 2 of my aunts and a friend become cancer survivors.

Has anyone ever considered having a BASKETBALL event at the RBC Center each season, named after V? After all, he was OUR coach, and I for one don’t understand why the Jimmy V tourney is somewhere else every year and never seems to involve the school he became famous at- NC State.

We do have a 20,000-seat arena and we could bring in quality teams each season, Dixie Classic style. But maybe that’s asking too much….

61 – I totally agree. It is unbelievable that the Pack is not a part. I can only assume that it is a money decision, we would not be a strong draw because we’ve stunk since the V Foundation was created.

Being an Italian American and a State Alumni I am at the point that I have to make this comment. Whoever is trying to make us forget about V, I have one bit of advice for you. FORGET IT! It is never going to happen until we all die off. Or, is that what you’re waiting for?

I have a homework assignment for you younger State fans. Go to The ACC.com/Vault and watch the 1987 first round ACC tourney game against Duke or the 4 overtime game against Wake. Forget the NC game against Houston. If you really want to see him coach a masterpiece watch those games. After that, you will see why Poppajohn, 61Packer,WV Wolf and I STATE our case.
