Can’t Miss ACC Action Tonight – The Piano Juggler

Put this entry in the “misery loves company” category. It has obvioiusly been a tough season in Raleigh, but we wanted to shift the focus to our friends from Wake Forest who are having an even more miserable season in the 1st year of the Jeff Bzdelik experiment.

I wanted to make sure that ACC fans didn’t miss out on a rare opportunity tonight at Lawrence Joel Coliseum. You can read about “the game”(i.e. the Duke/UNC game for all non-Duke/UNC fans and non-ESPN employees who may not know what I was referring too) everywhere else.

The down year the ACC is having in basketball has made attendance an issue for a lot of ACC teams this year especially at Wake Forest whose fans support their program as well as any in the conference:

Wake and Joel Coliseum officials acknowledge a decrease of more than 6,000 fans per game compared to 2006. The decline is ongoing; Jeff Bzdelik’s feckless flock, seemingly destined for the ACC cellar, plays before crowds that average 59 percent of capacity. “Throw the hate on me, not these young men,” Bzdelik proclaimed after an encouragingly competitive 24-point defeat by the Blue Devils. Encountered in a Joel corridor prior to the game, a Wake fan was eager to oblige the new coach, minus the extreme choice of words. “If I could separate my booing, and not boo the players but boo Bzdelik, I would,” said the supporter of 40 years.

We know the feeling all too well in Raleigh.

In an effort to drive attendance for tonight’s game against Miami, Wake Forest lined up some half-time entertainment and sent the following marketing campaign to members of the Deacon Club:

Yes, the Piano Juggler.

I can only imagine what Lee Fowler would have lined up to top WF athletic director Ron Wellman if he were still in his office at Lake Gaston NC State.

Sorry, WF fans – but your team will beat ours this Sunday and then we will have posession of last place all to ourselves! How do you like them apples!?

If you’re a Wake Forest fan, do you put more stock in Bzdelik turning things around within a couple of seasons OR Sidney Lowe getting three more victories this season?

    Tough call …

Haters gonna Hate… but that piano juggler has more talent than the combination of all the athletes in attendance tonight.

    But yea… that’s pretty weak.

I for one will just be glad when tonight’s game is over. It’s been a miserable week hearing about how great Duke and Carolina are and having to deal with how bad our team sucks on the court right now. Miserable, miserable, miserable week.

This halftime stunt wreaks of the ol ABA or better yet the movie Semi Pro(Will Ferrell)> Will he be performing his smash hit “I wanna love you sexy”?

Definitely Semi-Pro 1/2 time material. Pretty sad. Maybe Andre 3000 can play for us next year.

I took some time the other week to listen to Bdzelik’s radio show.

He sounds like Herb Sendek in a bad mood.

Well Weak Florist found a way to lose for the first time in their history to the U. I wonder when they will realize how lame it is for them to keep playing Zombie Nation over and over on the PA system? That is so CP3 nut puncher era.

Can he not set that up so it plays the right tune no matter where he hits it? It did not look like he was being that precise to me.

Miserable week? How about a miserable 20 years. And furthermore, we need to get use to it. If you watched the game (Duke/UNC) last night and in previous years, you should realize that the great high school BB talent will continue to flock towards these two schools. As someone stated earlier, we will just get the scraps – if we are lucky. Let’s face it, what high school senior would not want to play in the UNC/Duke game? It has been that way for 20 years, why should it change now? Our only hope is with Debbie and her selection of the next coach. But to be honest, it will be a crap shoot at best.

After the video finishes, click the link that shows him on Johnny Carson. That’s an interesting talent. I believe that there’s nothing out there that someone could not put a lot of time and effort into and become very good at. You just have to wonder why about some things. I did think it was pretty cool though.
