Lorenzo Brown

While the Georgetown game did not turn out how we would have liked there was every reason to believe things will improve. The team played well but the youth and lack of an inside game caught up to them.

Another reason for confidence is Lorenzo Brown. We have not had a player as smooth and athletic as Lorenzo in a long time. My only complaint would be that I would like to see him take control more often. Here is a spectacular play from the game on Sunday. What amazed me was how effortless the play was for Lorenzo.

As I recall from attending the Charleston games, in two of the three games(I can’t recall the third), LB took either no or only one shot in the first twelve or thirteen minutes of the first half. I believe that I am recalling this correctly. What I do remember with greater clarity is that he did not score in two of the games until after the 10 minute mark in the first half. I remarked to others around me that we really needed to have him involved in the offense earlier for us to maximize our chances of success. It’s good that he doesn’t force his game, and he is a freshman, but he is too valuable an offensive player to not score earlier. He does usually play good defense. Isn’t it great to go form the situation of the last three or four years of having no guard who could be a starter for any other ACC team to having two who could start for many ACC teams and having one who could start for all of them? This team is SO much more fun to watch that I actually look forward to attending the games. The last fews years I hame opted out of some home games (I discoverd that I was a happier person when not frustrated firsthand), but that will not be the case this year. I will accept loses as long as we play hard…and smart…and I believe that this team will improve as the year progresses. I have not held that opinion in several years. GO PACK!
