Sit in the ‘dougout’ to watch ‘Wolpfack’ battle ‘Cincinatti’? [Updated 7:35pm]

Will the embarrassments ever end for almost all things related to NC State University’s Sports Information Department and Wolfpack Sports Marketing?

In case you missed what has become the most viewed entry of 2010 on SFN then you need to take yourself back to this link. (Hat tip to the folks at Deadspin for originally linking this and driving the traffic counts.)

Right after the ‘Wolfpfack’ problem was brought to light, more embarrassing items – like ‘dougouts’ – were discovered by enterprising ‘Wolpfackers’ and discussed in this entry.

Well…today, we look forward to welcoming football season with the following gem from an email from GoPack.com promoting a ‘mini-fack’ of tickets. Please notice the incorrect spelling of what should have been ‘Cincinnati’.

The mis-spelling of Cincinnati is bad enough on its own. But, what if I told you that the Athletics Department had already received criticism for previously misspelling “Appreciation” on another marketing document focused on the very same game? Would you…could you…be even more flabbergasted if you were to learn that this kind of mistake was made earlier in the year and the department didn’t even bother to correct their mistake? Take a look at the spelling of “Military Apprecitation Day” on the picture (below) taken from the free schedule poster available to fans at this year’s Spring Football game in April.

This entry would be sad enough if we were highlighting only one incompetent document with multiple mistakes…but the fact that almost every document released from the incompetents in West Raleigh carries with it glaring spelling mistakes is…[insert your own description here].

…but the fact that almost every document released from the incompetents in West Raleigh carries with it glaring spelling mistakes is…..

…..one of the reasons we cant have nice things.

…..one of the most telling signs of the quality that is NC State Athletis

…..just one example why we are 60th out of 66 BCS schools in athletics. Accoring to the June 23rd directors cup standings.

…..why the athletic department is the laughing stock of the ACC, and if anyone knew about it, the nation.

…..another example of Lee Fowler’s mark on the culture of the athletic department.

…..something that should be compiled and shown to the new AD on day one of him being on the job.

…..immediate grounds for an accross the board audit of the entire athletic department.

    GO FACK!

ignore my spelling/grammer mistakes, they obviously shouldnt matter to me because I am a fack fan.

They have now corrected it on line but we shouldn’t have these mistakes everytime a document goes out. And to remember that in ENG111 that one error got a C and 2 errors got a NC.

Just another reason someone with no ties to the current mess becomes AD.

If there wasn’t a need for a thorough housecleaning I wouldn’t be against promote from within but it is obvious there needs to be real change.

is…not only a gaffe that puts our Sports Information Dept./Athletic Dept. in a poor light; it questions the integrity of the “schooling” aspect of our fine State-run University. How many people out there are thinking “oh that stupid Sports Information Dept. at State blah blah blah”? They’re not. Instead they’re going “those dumb arses at State couldn’t spell if blah blah blah”…wanna bet some monies that we see signs/posters from opposing fans at their stadiums with “Wolpfack Sux” written on them. It’s embarassing no matter how you put it out there. I’ve already seen the e-mail by Tarhole fans circulation about the stupidity of State. Let’s hope our new AD knows how to spell the words “Cleaning” and “House”.

Is it just me or is it spelled correctly (‘Cincinnati’) in the last picture?

  6. The Grinch 06/23/2010 at 6:18 PM #

I do believe you’re correct Andy. Don’t forget, it’s on Military Apprecitation day.

  7. LRM 06/23/2010 at 7:19 PM #

Andy and The Grinch (not a morning radio show) are both right. Cincinnati is spelled correctly on the schedule poster; “Apprecitation” is not. I corrected that paragraph.

I guess this is killing the rumor out there that we’re a liberal arts university…

Wow. I don’t know what to say except that nothing that is sent to the public doesn’t surprise me anymore. That being said, I doubt they ever have a typo on the cost of tickets, parking, etc.

Ah gotcha, just making sure I wasnt going insane

Now it has been said that the Germans would execute 50 Frenchmen for every German solider killed by the Resistance but that is not really true.

What they did do was to execute 50 French communists for every German solider killed by the communist segments of the resistance.

My point other than correcting a historically falsehood, I support fireing squades in Raeighl which is the homa of the Wolpfack.

Don’t you think the ticket office or marketing staffs would have more to do with this than the SID? I don’t see where ‘media’ and selling tickets have anything to do with one another.

  13. Prowling Woofie 06/24/2010 at 8:36 AM #

    RDUWolf,

I would be shocked if the SID, Marketing Staffs, and Ticket Office are not joined at the hip at a major university. If they aren’t they certainly should be, wouldn’t you think ?

  14. StateFans 06/24/2010 at 9:41 AM #

Our ‘marketing’ company is named “Wolfpack Sports Marketing”…it doesn’t have any other clients…it is set up only to focus on NC State…some argue that they don’t pay market rates for our media assets because Lee Fowler was able to lock them into a long term contract that didn’t go to market bid coincidently at the same time he started taking compensation for having his own television show.

So…it isn’t like there is a lot of distance between the organizations and the department.

No real surprise here folks…….have you ever met Annabelle Vaughn Myers or watched her in “action” at a home basketball game ??? What a joke ….it is embarassing to the university……
