If he’s so damn good at his *^$&#*$($ job, why can’t he get another one? Why was he fired?

The SE Athletic Director of the Year Award is now about as credible as the Nobel Peace Prize.

I guess now Lee can leave NC State saying he at least won something. Because God knows NC State never won anything of note while he was the almighty director.

Holy shit.

    You guys are taking this completely wrong. Lee Fowler is the best athletic director that Wake, Duke, UNC, and ECU have ever had!

    Sportscaster on WTVD 11 out of Durham last night made the comment that this was an attempt for Lee to keep his job, or get hired by someone other low expections university. I would not be surprised a bit if this was the case. People look out for each other in this industry knowing how quickly one can get fired.

    what a joke – is this an old boys network in action?

    as an aside — did the ACC just dodge a big bullet with the way conference realignment has been shaping up? i thought we were at serious risk for being raided by the SEC. hopefully now we’ve got a couple of years to generally improve the programs (ours included, i hope)

    We all have to admit, this is pretty freakin’ hilarious! I almost fell off the couch laughing last night when I heard this on the news. It’s great stuff, except that the humor comes at OUR expense.

    It appears Lee Fowler has made us a laughing stock ONE LAST TIME before leaving.

    If I were Ron Wellman, I’d be pissed. So now Lee can look at his trophy/award/whatever they give throughout his retirement and tell himself what a great job he did. At this point…..who cares. Life can be ridiculous. This is just one more data point to prove it. Agree with the post above – HWSNBN II. Lets move on and look forward to a great hire in his stead and re-establishing our once proud program.

    Who cares.

    He has no counter argument to why his overall Sears Cup ratings were so poor in comparison to his budget, fan base and facilities.

    Once again . . . MORE POSITIVE EXPOSURE for him = WORSE EXPOSURE for him in the long run. (example – ACC Sports Journal Article article).

    If he was an executive in a company he would be fired after year 3 for not growing the business. Balancing a budget is expected, not a recognized accomplishment.
