Ack, didn’t expect to see the picture so I clicked the link and had to quickly close it before any of my classmates wondered about why I was looking at mostly naked pictures of guys.

Who is this guy? I must have missed something.

  2. highonlowe 01/28/2008 at 2:11 PM #

    How dumb is this guy?

  3. Trip 01/28/2008 at 2:15 PM #

Ah ok, Wake’s quarterback. I don’t keep up with other schools quarterbacks too well, but this is just stupid.

    What a maroon
The big question is it an NCAA violation? An athlete cannot make money off of being an athelete right?
If I remember right Steve Alford got suspended for posing for a calendar that was for a charity.

    DUUUUDE!!!

Seriously, a big ole WTF on this one…

Wake is two for two today. This and the guy that kicked off the team with the bomb threat on myspace.

At the very least, it was a dumb thing to do. Worst case, it’s an NCAA violation. Question is, did he make money off this? Or did he post it for free? If no money was made, I tend to think he didn’t violate any NCAA rules.

“Question is, did he make money off this? ”

The article says he sold the pictures. Selling implies making money.

The question is this — is this better or worse than the tea-bagging Reggie Love got?

For the past 2 years, Wake’s football program has enjoyed the best karma I have seen in a long time. With the loss of their defensive coordinator (the most underrated aspect of their success), an offensive assistant coach, the kid with the entry on MySpace about blowing up the campus and now this – all in the past 10 days – maybe their good fortune is coming to an end.

It will be interesting to see what Grobe does with a key player in trouble. Book report, one game (against nobody) suspension or serious discipline?

I’m going with one game off.

The next question might be who held the camera? What do you do ask your roomie to take a pixture of you a capella?

Wonder if this guy likes likes Gladiator movies. (a la Airplance the movie).

THe more I think about this the more I am like WHHHHAAAAAATTT?

First, who thinks this is a legitimate way to make money?
Second, what guy has hte ego to think people would pay money to see him naked
Third, did he not even think he would get caught?

I’m not clicking on the link to a site called “withleather.com” — but is this entirely trustworthy? Could this not be a hoax?

Like Rick, I find the whole idea unbelievable.

^ Beo…you do know the story of “I’m with Leather”?

    Can this be for real?

    O,

Deadpin.com: Berman could go all the way…

A friend of mine just told me he’s getting married. When he gave me the news I immediately thought of the time we were in Scottsdale at spring training, because it’s the best pickup story I’ve ever been a party to. It was about nine years ago, and I actually forget the bar. But my friend was seriously putting the moves on this somewhat attractive young woman, who was wearing leather pants and had a leather jacket draped over her lap. They had been chatting at the bar for about an hour, and my friend thought he was in the house. I had never seen someone work so hard for a score.

But just as he was putting on the finishing touches, Chris Berman walks by. And without even breaking stride, Berman looks at the girl, points and says “You’re with me, leather.” And the girl looks up, instantly recognizes Berman, snatches up her jacket and walks out with him, leaving my friend in mid-sentence.

Beo…you do know the story of “I’m with Leather”?

No, never heard of it before the post above mine, if that’s the story.

Brady Quinn needs to step up his game to compete with these pics…

  20. Girlfriend in a Coma 01/28/2008 at 3:38 PM #

Seriously, he must have a mental problem to do this. (Assuming it is real).

  21. RAWFS 01/28/2008 at 3:41 PM #

That’s the story. It more or less propelled Deadspin.com into the forefront of Sports Blogs. That and Collin Cowherd’s inciting people to click-bomb The Big Lead really pushed those two sites way up further in the blogosphere.

  22. beowolf 01/28/2008 at 3:54 PM #

Well, as Sherlock Holmes once said, “Now that I do know it I shall do my best to forget it.”

BoKnowsNCS71-Gotta be careful which girls you let take pictures. Never know which one has Enquirer aspirations.

  24. highonlowe 01/28/2008 at 4:04 PM #

The withleather.com story is kinda interesting too.
Deadspin blows up after the Berman-picking-up-chicks story, some frequent deadspin commentors spin off to do the Kissing Suzy Kolber blog, as a joke they hold pics of Peter King’s daughter as ransome telling him to stop writing about starbucks, then Penguin Media takes notice and hires one of the KSK guys to do the withleather.com sports blog. The guy goes from commentor to paid blogger in less than 12 months.

“The next question might be who held the camera? What do you do ask your roomie to take a pixture of you a capella?”

Scratch out the word roomie and replace with All American Center and future NFL first rounder, Steve Justice. This was just his way of going out and saying “screw you Grobe and your shot-gun offense. Riley works just fine under center.”
