    Micky McCarthy Says:

One final, final thing. Why aren’t our fatass offensive tackles coached to get into a three point stance on running plays? When you simply “crouch 3/4 style into your stance, your pads are not low enough to drive a block. Get down, son!

For the same reason the fatass offensive tackles for San Diego didn’t get into a three point stance on (certain) running plays: the design of the play is to give the appearance of a pass. If they get in a 3/4 stance every time they pass, even you, dad, would know a pass was coming. The is the reverse intent of the play-action pass where “your pads are not low enough to drive a block” but you pass instead. Got it? Good. Any other coaching advice? I would have been a little kinder except I just knew you would appreciate a response in the same style as your post. 😉

“Fantastic! Awesome! Yes! Give me a break. Squeaking by Akron in no way would make me feel any better today. ”

It’s not enough to demand we win the conference championship and go to a major bowl, we also have to win by blowouts over all we are expected to beat.

^Buddy, if you saw damn near anything good from that game that gives you any confidence about this team moving forward, I’d like to hear it. We put these teams on the schedule to refine the system before it’s time to play the big boys, and above all else, to post a ‘W’. We are NC State University. We make loads of money off our athletics program. We pay coaches big bucks to go out and recruit the top talent in the land. Akron…they’re just happy to put on a uniform. A bowl game at the end of their season is their Super Bowl.

One other thing, I’m not the one saying we’d be winning conference championships. That was Chuck, and it wasn’t even during his drinking days. Today he’s talking about how Akron has an unfair advantage. Can’t coach. Can’t tell the truth. Can’t even lie well.

My expectations are much higher. And you know what? Chuck’s expectations are as well. Just look at the way he’s acting. It’s making him crazy.

Enlighten me as to what you are seeing that gives you hope?

^about 85 young men who won’t quit at the first sign of adversity. Gotta go. Going to leaf through the archives and see who sold out before the FSU game last year.
